Yet that is still a far harder defensive schedule than Gabbert ever had to face. Which is my point. |

*sigh* Russell.... as in JaMarcus....now "Russell" Wilson...
This was no knock on either. | Ok, i feel stupid. MY bad. _________________

Like I said. It will be a whole new ball game when the 49ers are raining down on his butt. |
Is it fair for me to say that your statement is also true for Matt Flynn? And do you realize Wilson is playing against one of if not the best secondary in the league every day in practice? Seattle's defense is better than pretty much all of the defenses he will face this year with the exception of SF |
No it's not fair. Flynn has proven that he can handle NFL DEFENSES. Russell has proven jack against NFL defenses. He might just crumble like Gabbert at the sight of an NFL lineman coming to destroy him. |
The Patriots and Lions arent exactly the best examples of NFL defenses but i get what youre saying _________________

I'm almost positive Flynn will start. If he doesn't play well in the first half of the season then I could see Wilson taking over, who I was a big fan of heading into the draft. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

Seattle fans need to lay off the Russell Wilson koolaid.
This is Matt Flynn's job, absolutely no questions asked. _________________

In all fairness Gabbert sucked in college too [against easy defenses (Big XII)] and Wilson rocked in college [hard defenses (B1G)]. |
I love Wilson but he did have problems in big games at WI last year. He threw a couple of bad INTs in the Rose Bowl for one.
Flynn might not have the strongest arm in camp but he has a certain je ne sais quoi about him. He shines when the spot light is on and that is what you want in an NFL starting QB. _________________

That's my train of thought. Things will be REALLY bad if Wilson beats out Flynn. I get it that Wilson is right now doing his best Doug Flutie impression, but he's still a rookie with a lot to learn. Maybe in a year or two he's ready to start and a real QB comp could be had...but for now, you better wish that Flynn gets the start. _________________

I think there's a good chance Russell Wilson will be starting before the season is out. _________________

Bad and worse. Wilson is the future, but Flynn will have to do for now.

I think they should start TJax. Me being a Niner fan would love that. _________________

At this point, we already know who Tarvaris Jackson is and what he brings to the table--and it's not much. There's really no point in starting him because he's a six-year veteran that just doesn't offer much in the way of upside.
Matt Flynn got paid $24 million over 3 years, and I doubt they spent that money with aims to keep him on the bench. It's pretty obvious they're paying him to be a starter, so I think unless he's really disappointing in camp, the job is his. And it should be. He's only received significant playing time in three games, but he at least offers some kind of upside, unlike Jackson. He's been up-and-down in his three games (he was awful against the Lions in 2010, but looked good against the Patriots the next week, and he murdered the Lions in week 17 last year). Personally, I think they paid him too much based on a very small sample size, and I'm not sold on him as a long-term solution, but they can't just sit him.
As for Russell Wilson, he's an experienced college quarterback, but he's not a particularly impressive physical specimen and will probably have to spend a year or two as a student before he's ready to get on the field. The Seahawks aren't an especially strong team, particularly when it comes to receiving targets, so it'd be smart of them to stash Wilson for a while until they can get some more talented receivers. _________________

The two big issues with Tarvaris Jackson in Minnesota were the fact that he was very injury prone, and that he became tentative on the field when things didn't go his way.
That said, I am not at all sold on Matt Flynn. There's a huge difference between stepping into a well-polished offence with three Pro Bowl receivers to throw to vs. being a full-time starter over a full season with no talent around you. I see him struggling big-time. _________________

He didn't even have Greg Jennings in that record-setting game. Who's the 3rd Probowler? _________________

Yeah, you're right. Flynn had to make do with Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson and TE Jermichael Finley. _________________
