Never panned out to what we hoped, but he was a pretty solid player for a few years for us. Damn sure looked like a Raider.

He apparently struggled mightily in camp.

Gallery was pretty much done when he left Oakland. His inability to stay healthy & disappointment at the Tackle position certainly didn't stop him from earning millions, though.

I was excited when we signed him. Wish he would of played great tackle, was agood guard for us. But like many the injury bug hurt his career. Hopefully he was wise with money and can use some fo it to improve hsi health.

Meh. Confused

Another 1st round Raider bust at left and right tackle. Man we had too many of those in a stretch. We got 3rd round OG value for him for a few years though.

Can u imagine how long Gallery would have been signed for under the old regime had his salary demands been fairly reasonable?

Question surely the criticism was that we overpaid players under the old regime. Gallery couldn't get a new deal under the old regime so I don't get your point?

Disappointing career for Gallery. He was the 'can't miss' prospect coming out. Suppose to lock down the LT spot and be an All-pro for 10+ years.

Never made a probowl. Had a couple good years at LG.

Total bust of a draft pick.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened had he been left at LT and not bounced around.

True. I just hated Gallery that much. Didn't want the Raiders to pick him back then, though I was encouraged because he was the 'sure thing'.

I wanted Roethlisberger with a trade down preferably. Or Rivers just to mess up the scenario rumored leading up to the draft w/ the Chargers.

Back to Veldheer. Great finding a player like that in the 3rd.

I don't buy the short arms argument. Gallery just sucked all the way around. Just never looked fluid out there with his feet or hand placement.

I wanted Fitzgerald so bad that year. I know WR isn't that important in the grand scheme of things (I even knew that back then when I was like 13) but just like everyone, I thought he was special. Can't envision anyone complaining had we taken him.

Also, we really dodged a bullet that year. Imagine if SD took Fitz instead of Eli/Rivers. They would have had LT in his prime, Drew Brees, Antonio Gates, Larry Fitzgerald and Vincent Jackson. Shocked

Um, the Raiders opened negotiations with Gallery with every intention of extending UNTIL Gallery started the bidding at $8M per. There's a part of me that feels that in addition to the injuries, Gallery stopped loving the game and was seeking the extra motivation of a big $contract or potential championship. When neither became feasible he no longer had the fortitude to fight through injuries.
