Good:
- Penalties. Very few and not many blatant or dumb ones

- Rod Streater. He's like Criner with a better head on his shoulders. He looks like a really nice piece to build around. Hopefully a sturdier Chaz Schilens type.

- Mike Mitchell had a solid game. Good at rushing, solid tackling, alright in coverage. The INT fell onto his lap but hey, he was in position and made the play. Props.

- Gruden in the house. I know I can't be the only one who really enjoyed his commentary and anecdotes from the good ole days. The Jano/Lechler Mile High Stadium and Beavis and Butthead stories were killing me

- 1st string defense. Solid gap control and overall discipline. Great job sealing the edge and seemed like tackling improved even.

- Leinart looked alright in a backup capacity. Nothing flashy but this is the 1st preseason game.

- Hamilton looks like a UDFA find. I think I saw Bilukidi with a nice play or 2 also. Same wtih Kilgore.

Bad:
- DVD. He looked no better than last year out there tonight. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come this season

- Barksdale. What the hell happened? Last I knew he was alright, but he looked like hot garbage out there tonight

- Miles Burris. What's the hype about? I don't get it, he just looks like an aggressive LB. Completely unimpressed.

Ugly:
- Some 2nd and almost all 3rd string OL. Disgusto.

- Criner. Yuck. Complete non factor. Looked like vintage DHB

- Jacoby Ford. Come on man. 2 drops and a muffed punt?

- Marquette King celebrating like he railed Kate Upton every time he punted the ball. Kick it, sit down and stfu.

- Carson Palmer's pick. I know but still that was dumb and definitely U-G-L-Y

- Eddie Carmona: You suck.

- Chimdi Chekwa touchback. Are you kidding me? How do you f that up?

- Manase Tonga's pathetic attempt at blocking on that WR screen. See ya. Jackson and Schmitt are easily ahead of him in the pecking order.

88 you gotta chill on King getting hyped up. I for one love a player with intensity and passion. So what if hes just a punter? DE get all hyped up if they get a big sack. Why cant P's get hyped if they make a great kick? Its their aspect of the game, and if they do a good job at it, I have no problem whatsoever if they celebrate... especially in pre season when he is trying to find work for the upcoming season. He should be excited at his performance.

It's the first preseason game, I don't think we can look into it too much. In that light I think the biggest 'Goods' are the lack of penalties and lack of injuries. I try to take into account that this still is a new offensive scheme being developed. I have a feeling we'll look a little better each week. But for now, I'll take a full game played with discipline and complete lack of injury. Great start to the season.

On a side note, I was really surprised how good our first team defense looked, against a good Dallas offense. Houston looked improved too. I was higher on him that McClain coming out of the draft. I like to see him progress. We'll have to see how we play again on Friday.

I think Pryor is getting too much attention. I tend to focus on the players that are likely to influence our season. How well Pryor does has no impact on our season outcome right now, so how he plays is inconsequential at the moment. Our defense, primary backups, and key starters all looked pretty good. And that was huge for me.

You can rip my boy Burris all you want but he was in that defense you just praised s&b Wink

What do you expect from a rookie LB in his first action? A clay Matthews impact? He was very solid. No blown assignments, taking on blockers, chasing guys down and he looks like a sure tackler. Guys going to be a stud IMO.

I always like your post, so what did you think of Carson.

I thouht he looked good for the most part, not his fault JF dropped some passes. The only pass i didn't like was the pick, he ran up in the LG's back and didn't even bother to look off coverage, and again JF effort to tackle the defender was half hearted.

I just don't know about him, he looks amazing until he makes up his mind that he is gonna force one, i can see it. I like that he is fearless but he is less calculated than other elite QB's, and not nearly on the same cerebral level. That might have to do with this new system.

In fact i have never thought of him a QB who can make 10 good choices in a row like the WCO offense demands, add in the mobile pocket? I know he can move, but i highly question his ability to throw on the move and actually make a good choice.

I am not a big fan of Carson but i really, really want him to play well this year.

What is your opinion of CP?

Just reposting my rant in gameday thread (more organized)

GOOD:
-Rod Streater... BEAST! Only dropped one ball from Leinart (Leinart threw a rainbow floater up in the blinding sun) and caught 6 or 7 balls. Look forward to seeing him contribute to the offense during the season.

-DEFENSE (everyone except DVD played well)

-Pryor was FUN to watch! Wow is he hard to sack.I hope he improves his throwing because he could be the next Michael Vick if he even learns to throw with average accuracy...lol

BAD:

Jacoby Ford was pissin' me off... catch the damn ball guy! Quit playin scared like Higgins!!!! Jacoby is lookin like Higgins 2.0. Goes into the fetal position on punts/kicks... looks scared going over the middle. Ughhhhhhh cmon Jacoby you better pick it up by the end of preseason!

UGLY:

-#60 on our O-line (doesn't deserve his name typed) is complete garbage.

-The great Ed Wang looked lost. Almost all the backup OL did.

-Chekwa not picking up the punt on the 1 yard line and letting it go for a TB. Just plain dumb.

Pat Lee should be the #3 CB. How did McCann look? I was paying more attention to the LB's

McCann looked pretty good. I have him ahead of Chewka on the DC.

#60 was bad in spots but good in others. I will have to reveiw the whole game again closely to see when he was doing the worst. I know I saw him play at least 3 different positions. From what I saw Barksdale didnt play much better.

I agree the INT was a horrible horrible decision, but you can't be serious about the two Ford drops? They hit him in the hands at about head height?

C'mon man.

Think the first team O-Line looked excellent, and depth was fine when Leinart was in. As was mentioned by a Rams fan who posted here, we didn't run the ball at all in the 2nd half so the Cowboys could just tee off knowing that they didn't need to play the run. Joseph Barksdale is a real worry though.

Good:

- No one got hurt. BIG bonus in every preseason game IMO
- Rod Streater- The way this guy and Ford played last night, I could see him jumping up to our number 3 guy by the end of the preseason. We'll touch on Ford later Wink
- McFadden - Looking like he never missed a beat. I like how he was outside on that 2nd play, I believe. Ran good. Every game he doesn't get hurt is good.
- Matt Leinart - Looks like a serviceable backup. People want to knock his arm strength and I'm OK w/ that. I'll take LoS passes and 15 yarders all day. He can make those throws just fine.
- The front 7 - Man these guys impressed me. We'll see what happens though.
-King - Dude seems like a legit punter if we ever feel like freeing up cap space
- Miller - If he gets a spot, I'm OK w/ this guy being a 3rd-4th back. Kid looked pretty good.

Bad:

- Secondary - Not shocked. Front 7 will have to bail these guys out often. - King was so pumped for a kick. I know, I know but still LOL. Yes, he can make the good and bad list haha

Ugly:

- Pryor - Gotta start w/ ol reliable. This dude probably just gave us the most pathetic QB play since Russell. I haven't read through the gameday thread but I'm sure everyone is giving this guy the typical Raider fan treatment "oh it's his first game in blah time, give him a chance" or "it's only the preseason" or some crap like that. No. He did this at OSU and he looked significantly worse (I didn't think it would be that bad) against people who will eventually be on the practice squad and not even on the roster. Pyror confirmed he is utterly worthless and if Palmer and Leinart go down, we will never win a game. Imgaine Pryor against 1st stringers. All those terribly inaccurate throws become picks all day. Get this guy off the team. Why not let Olivia Newton-John or whatever that other back-ups name is, play? There's no way he could be worse.
- Jacoby Ford - When did this dude learn to drop so many balls?? 2 and a muffed punt?? ......... I hope this was an anomaly. I'm going to sit here and give excuses like "it's the first preseason game" b/c it's not for him. Dude has been playing football forever. Those catches were not difficult in the least bit and he beefed them... badly.
- Criner - All we hear about is this dude getting things DONE in camp. Gets on the field and drops a pass w/ no one w/in 15 yards? No. I will give this dude a little pass b/c I'm sure he was nervous but I dunno.... we'll see. Streater just jacked your limelight from you BIG TIME.
- Depth - We seriously lack it.

I'm sure I missed something but whatever.

Like what drugs are you on? Seriously. I didn't think people would ever be calling that performance "good". This is unbelievable. He skipped balls across the ground, relied way too much on his feet and not to THROW the damn ball like a QB is supposed to do, he has no confidence, no pocket presence, the mechanics and vision of Helen Keller. I mean, are you two serious??? "Good"??? The only "good" thing that happened when Pryor was in there was the game ended and I didn't have to feel embarrassed anymore. You guys have no clue here, I'm terribly sorry. That ish was literally embarrassing on all levels.
