Early dibs on version 4 of this thread. Guillem annoys me but it makes sense, just one of Sahin/Tello would be a big boost (much moreso Sahin though). _________________

| We're at that point in the Sahin pursuit where you can easily set yourself up for disappointment... a few reputable sources saying the deal could be done by tonight and some others calling the deal already done but until it's official we could be spurned by another club like Arsenal just like with Sigurdsson. |

I think the RVP/Song drama is going to lag behind the Modric deal quite a bit, so the clubs will be eager to send Sahin on his way. At this point I wouldn't necessarily rule Arsenal out but you guys appear to be in the drivers seat for him. _________________

| I'm just trying not to get too excited. Even if it's just a season loan, a Lucas/Sahin/Gerrard midfield is serious. |

Apparently not. Van Persie's gone. I'd imagine we'll push hard for Sahin now. _________________

For people wondering about the sources. Oliver Kay seems to be the most reputable from the ones I found (The Times) that seems to think that the deal is going to be done. To me, it seems like Arsenal must have just not made an offer yet.
Going to keep my hopes up though. I really want this to be done. A midfield of Sahin, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Henderson and Shelvey would be absolutely brilliant for next season. No doubt if it works, Liverpool would be at least top two when it comes to goals against next season.

A lot of sources claiming it could be done by tomorrow but I've seen these things get hijacked in the past (usually it happens to Arsenal though) _________________

In a bout of double homerism I'm going to say we're top 3 with a healthy Sahin, Gerrard and Lucas midfield and Suarez up front. _________________

Guardian says that Real prefers Liverpool over Arsenal. They say that Real does not want the chance of facing Arsenal with Sahin in the Champions League and that Liverpool is willing to bear more of the wages. Think this is the best chance. Sahin isn't really leaning too much to Arsenal and would just let the pieces fall as it may and Real accepts Liverpool and rejects Arsenal's offer.

That would be perfect.
Get Sahin
Finish Top 3 (behind Utd and City obviously)
Profit
That may sound ridiculous but consider the core of the team when Liverpool came second.
Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard. Obviously Gerrard isn't as good but Sahin is incredibly similar to Alonso in level and style, Lucas is as good as Mascherano was back then. Replace Torres with Suarez and then to boot we have a better defence and reserve players. Chelsea are being massively overrated, Arsenal have lost their heart, Newcastle won't stick around (IMO) so Spurs will be our big competition.
If we then finish top 3 we could push for Sahin permanently or just attract better players.
Of course Arsenal or Spurs may hijack the deal and I'll go back to thinking we're doomed to be 6th for the next 3 seasons. _________________

Masch, Alonso, Gerrard. That was the best midfield in the world at that time.

Curse you Rafa for wanting to swap Alonso with Barry. Never forgive, never forget. _________________
