Quote:
Jason Witten suffered a spleen injury in Monday's preseason game, and the star tight end's availability for the Dallas Cowboys' regular-season opener is uncertain, a team source told ESPN's Ed Werder.
Quote:
If surgery is not required, Witten is expected to miss up to three weeks but likely would be available for the season opener against the New York Giants on Sept. 5. But if the bleeding continues and he needs surgery, Witten would be sidelined indefinitely, according to the source.

That's too bad, I hope it heals on its own.

Fantasy POV: If Witten misses a long period of time, who's Romo's new security blanket?

I don't even know what a spleen does, but any internal injury has to be taken super seriously. Wish him the best.

If he misses time into the regular season, that will really hurt the Cowboys IMO.

Direct result of our awful interior o-line. The ball was snapped, the line promptly collapsed, Romo nearly got killed but got away, then he checked it down to Witten who injured his spleen for a two yard loss in a pre-season game.

Hopefully he'll be good to go for Sep. 5th. I'd be content to watch three more versions of Cowboys-Raiders this month if it meant we wouldn't be risking injuries to key starters for nothing.

Go back and watch the play again, Doug Free missed on his assignment, it was a play action pass with everyone moving to the left. Either way, hopefully he is ready for Season Opener. I dont think it will hurt him to sit out the rest of preseaon, at least we can see what the new kid can do ( Hanna)

McClain did that too. Damn. That was a vicious hit. Legal too.

If Chris Simms can play a whole game with a ruptured spleen then Witten can play. Quit bein' a wuss.

Either Murray or Jones out of the backfield, most likely. Both are very good receiving backs. That'd be my guess.

I doubt Witten misses much time. That dude is a monster. This is the same guy who played half a season with a broken jaw.

IIRC from AP Bio it filters blood and rids it of some toxins.

It's idiotic to play with a ruptured spleen.
