Messi.
It's hard to argue it even if I think other players are deserving of recognition for years of consistency like Xavi, Casillas etc. _________________

| pique has to be the biggest question mark on that list. Especially when you leave out Silva and Kompany |

I agree with Mourinho when he said that a player should actually win a major trophy the year they get awarded the Ballon D'Or. I know that is not the criteria and it is awarded for individual performance but that is my personal preference.
Messi still seems like the favourite but I would rather see Ronaldo or Casillas who I feel thoroughly deserve it. _________________

Pique and Ramos are both terrible picks. Kompany and Hummels would've been much better. _________________

But obviously they don't play for Barca/Madrid and so are ineligible.
Ronaldo should probably win it, but Messi or Iniesta will. _________________

Ramos should be nominated but Pique has no business being on the list. And whoops forgot about Hummels |

Ronaldo or Messi are the only answers for me. Messi was better player last year but Ronaldo won things so either way I wouldn't be bothered. _________________

I have no problem with Ramos. Euro Champs usually get nominated for individual awards and Ramos to me looked better than Pique in the tournament. Also won La Liga as well so he has the trophies to back it up. _________________

Pirlo should also get some looks. Juventus has been undefeated for, forever now and he led Italy to the finals (also unexpected). He really was unappreciated last season. |

The exclusion of Kompany and Mata is just embarrassing. _________________
