Where's Wallace Man, Huh, String, Where the [] is Wallace.
He is over there, on the Girdiron, making something of himself. |
Herc is in the show breakout kings |
I should have mentioned MKW, but I mean yea Wood Harris was in Remember the Titans, Clay Davis was in Cedar Rapids, Herc was in Entourage and a few other things, but none of them were quite as accomplished as guys like Joe Pantoliano, Vincent Pastore and Dominic Chianse. Obviously none of the Sopranos actors are stars, but I feel like they get work more consistently than many of the Wire actors.
Oh and Aiden Gillen is another one who's been particularly successful. _________________

I'm finishing The Sopranos now, and it's pretty unbelievable.
It's definitely the only show along with Mad Men that I would put near The Wire. |
Television ranking for me:
The Wire
The West Wing
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Arrested Development |

Yea the Wire actors are everywhere, but they're usually pretty small roles, like Burrell in Do the Right Thing, the Hannibal movies and Coming to America, Bunny Colvin in Face/Off and Bodie and Norm in Pootie Tang. _________________

Bunny Colvin and Aiden Gillen were both in The Dark Knight Rises.
Just finished The Sopranos. I think it's tied with The Wire, and just above and Men in terms of best shows all time. Damn, that show is perfect. _________________

What were the major themes you have picked up from the show? Have you watched the series a second time? If not I urge you to watch the show a second time, it fills in a lot of the blanks.
The toughest thing with the Wire is that it really requires you to sit down and put all your focus on the show, you cannot sit there watching the show with half your attention on a laptop or something. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

In-deed.
Cutty and his development upon his release from prison is a very interesting side story, but also continues the same theme. Look where he gets his funding from when he starts his gym. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Do you like the idea of The Greek? We barely get to know his character at all. Vondas is one of my top 10 characters, but I cannot make a judgement on "The Greek". _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Yea there was absolutely minimal development of The Greek, and that is the reason I like him. The mystery behind his rise to power, the way he dealt with business, etc. Everything about him was intriguing, and I loved that he got away at the end.
For a lack of a better term he was just a very bada$$ character. _________________

Haha the 40 degree day scene is great.
I also love when McNulty goes into Stringer's apartment and just says "Who the hell was I chasing." _________________

Love those two, Omar in the court room with his tie is one of the best scenes in the entire show, and he is talking truth there. Both of them (Omar and Levy) take advantage of drug dealers to make their money. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

I made mention of this earlier, essentially in a comparions between style between Avon, Stringer, Marlo and Vondas. Marlo was all about the street, so was Avon, until very late in the peice when he realises Stringer was right, the need to elevate themselves above the street, Stringer started on the street and is trying to move himself above the street to get to essentially where Vondas is. Vonas and the Greek are the real criminal masterminds of this show. They stay above anything that can get them implicated, yet they are they guys pulling the strings. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's
