Personally, I think Nassib may be one of the more interesting prospects in the draft. He has decent size, decent arm strength and his accuracy has been improving throughout his time at Syracuse. Before it's over, I believe he could work his way into the mid rounds, if he continues to show improvements. At worst, I believe he'll be a late round pick with an opportunity to make a roster and depending on who's ahead of him, he could get a real opportunity. |
I agree on all this. He has a chance to get picked in the mid rounds if he keeps playing well and if he keeps improving he has a shot to make a roster next year. Of course be a syracuse fan im a little biased so i just wanted to see what everyone else thought of him. _________________

Sorry I never saw this. Nassib is a very interesting guy like Osprey said. Solid size for the position and definitely has the raw skills to be something special, but he is questionable in a lot of the little areas of the game which is holding him back from being great. I could easily see a coach love that potential and take a chance on him in the 3rd.
First thing you have to say about him when doing a report is that fastball. He throws the kinda ball that receivers talk about the next day. I'm not fan of the hitch in his throwing motion, but much like Philip Rivers I think it'll be an overblown aspect when people talk about him. His release is still so quick that it's not a huge deal. Thing I don't like most about it is that it's an easy target for opposing pass rushers to knock out and it makes it difficult reset after pumping.
His footwork can be very choppy at times, which is a direct link to most of his errant throws, which is a direct link to why he looks like a poor decision maker at times. Calm his footwork down in the pocket, he makes less throws off his back foot, and he makes more sound decisions. Solid pocket mobility, but he looks flustered at times when he's being rushed. Other negative about him is that he has a fastball, a changeup, but nothing in the middle. His "floaters" are very exaggerated and he needs to learn to put a little more on those. Also needs to learn when the fastball isn't necessary.
With all of this said, I like him. He's an interesting project type QB that I wouldn't mind gambling on relatively early considering he has everything you want in a QB from the raw perspective. _________________

I should have a few more reports up tomorrow, maybe during half time of the game.
I don't usually do reports on players until I've seen them 3-5 times (depending on position) so I still can't do one for Florida LB Jelani Jenkins who I've seen twice now. Shariff Floyd and Luke Joeckel are both guys that have hit the 5 game mark so they'll be up tomorrow. DT Dominique Easley is at 4 games so I may just do a write-up on him while I'm at it. Jonathan Banks of Miss State may be done as well. _________________

Yea he threw a few of those floaters yesterday against usc that would of been TDs if he put a little more on them _________________

Few reports that I said I'd do:
Florida DT Shariff Floyd #73
I'll say the same thing in my write-up of Dominique Easley, but it's just really difficult to get a fair evaluation on the Florida defensive linemen with how often the coaching staff rotates them in and out. You'll rarely see the same player come in for back-to-back series, which means these players are almost always fresh and playing at their best. Regardless, let's get to Floyd. He's a very low-set player with surprising quickness off the snap. He's a big boy that you'd think is strictly a 4-3 interior lineman, but Florida actually set him out wide as a DE with their 3-4 packages. I was impressed by this as Floyd looks more like a NT for this scheme. Really powerful upper body with good hand placement for the most part. One thing you notice about Floyd time and time again is that he has really good ball awareness, which is something that scouts rarely account for when looking at defensive lineman. It's actually a really important natural trait that Floyd clearly possesses, and it leads to him being involved in a lot of run plays.
Florida DT Dominique Easley #2
Just read the first few sentences of the last report as how I'd start this one. It's interesting how I came upon scouting Easley as I was mostly just watching Shariff Floyd in 2011, but Easley was a guy I could not ignore. He lines up all over the line for Florida, seeing time as a 4-3 UT, 4-3 DE, and 3-4 DE. He's built a lot like a DE, very lean interior player that lacks ideal upper body strength to be a consistent force against the run. He may lack a true position at the next level which will surely hurt his value, but I still feel he holds a lot of value as a dimensional pass rusher. First thing you notice with Easley is his electric first step off the line which almost always gives him the initial advantage over his opposition. He plays with great pad level and plays with active hands to accommodate for his lack of strength. He even rushed from a 2-point stance in one game I saw and is unbelievably fast for a player listed as a DT.
I had a few more that I wanted to get done but I'm tired so this will have to do for now. _________________

Any players I should be looking out for as sleeper prospects or guys to watch on the east coast? You have the advantage of being more exposed to these kids! _________________

From Syracuse i like S Shamarko Thomas and WR Marcus Sales.
Sales ended 2010 with a MONSTER game in the Pinstripe bowl and we were looking for big things from him in 2011 but he got suspended and missed the whole year. He is back this year and has 19 catches 221 yards and 3td through 2 games. The suspension will hurt him and throw red flags his way come draft time but he looks like he has changed his act and his fully committed to Football now. He has great hands and decent speed, Could be a nice late round pick for some team.
Thomas is a big hitter!!! he plays with reckless abandonment and just hits whatever comes his way. He can be a bit aggresive at times and sometimes that hurts him. He tested the draft waters last year but pulled his name out and returned which was a good thing. He said he had no intention of going pro he just wanted to get an evaluation from nfl scouts to see what he had to work on.

LT isn't a position I wanted to be looking for in the draft anytime soon, but given the state of Glass Joe...
... are there any legit-first-round LTs that aren't Top 15 picks? I doubt we draft very high (20-ish, I'm guessing), so I'm hoping it's a deep position in '13.
Thoughts? _________________

Michigan's Taylor Lewan could certainly be that guy considering questions of his upper body strength transitioning to the next level. Alabama's DJ Fluker is definitely the cream of the crop, but Texas A&M's Luke Joekel falls in the category that you're talking about. He reminds me a lot of Michael Roos of the Titans. Really good pass protector, though he can struggle against bull rushers. His weakness is definitely run blocking, but he has the frame to add more weight and he's definitely a willing blocker in this capacity. Athletic for the position as well, the Aggies line him up at TE on some power run plays to get him on the edge. _________________

Marcus Sales is a very interesting prospect as well. If this guy continues to put up the numbers that he has been, I could easily see him drafted in the mid rounds, but there is a chance, he could even sneak into the late second round with a good 40 time, (depending upon who declares). He is a playmaker. _________________ "People say you should always do the right thing, but sometimes there is no right thing. And then, you just have to pick the sin you can live with." -Ig Perrish |

Would love to somehow grab Keenan Allen. Was able to watch him a little the past couple weeks and I'm still in love with his game and what he could bring to our offense. A WR core of Rice-Edwards*-Allen-DB-Tate would be legit.
*May or may not be on the team next year. _________________

Doubt we'd keep Edwards if we drafted a 1st round receiver. Similar to what I was saying about TO, we'd have no room for Edwards on the roster with his limited niche.
But yea, Keenan Allen is my #1 WR despite Robert Woods getting most of the pub. _________________

Agreed. I really like Keenan Allen alot. He'd have alot better stats, if he had a decent QB. He and Terrance Williams of Baylor, are my two favorites in this draft class, although I'm very high on Justin Hunter of Tennessee, as well. I'd be more than satisfied with any of those three. _________________ "People say you should always do the right thing, but sometimes there is no right thing.
