I've never been impressed with Hanie's physical tools but he's not a bad option if you don't ask too much of your backups.

Link: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000059744/article/brock-osweiler-broncos-no-2-quarterback-hanie-cut?module=HP11_headline_stack

Two things I find surprising:
1) The Broncos must either feel really good about Peyton Manning's health and durability or Osweiler's ability to step in and run the offense in a pinch.

2) This quote stuck out to me as a good way for the Broncos to save money but I'm guessing Hanie isn't happy about it.
Quote:
Quote:
Hanie's contract contained no guaranteed money. In lieu of a signing bonus, Hanie was scheduled to receive $1 million in fully guaranteed money and receive a $250,000 roster bonus if he were on the 53-man roster in Week 1, a scenario the Broncos avoided with Saturday's release.

As Mike Klis of the Denver Post notes, it would not be a surprise if Hanie were re-signed Tuesday, at which point his salary for the remainder of the season would not be guaranteed.

So the Broncos may be screwing Hanie out of money?

Not like the dude has any leverage. Either get cut and then resign so your money isn't guaranteed or sit on the coach for the rest of the season because nobody is going to pick him up with the depth charts already filled.

He showed last year that the NFL game is simply too much for him.

No surprise here. Honestly, one of the worst QBs I've ever seen ever.

Really. And what does the team that I like have anything to do with Hanie? Right, it doesn't.
But for what you're trying to say:
Gabbert>>> Hanie

Ugh, one of those comments.

You shouldn't judge a QB over one season. If that were the case, teams would be drafting a new QB in the 1st round every single year.

As for Caleb Hanie, no surprise. He's not very good. He did absolutely nothing with his chances to start, so really we are looking at something that was bound to happen.

But Go Brock Osweiler. Rooting for the tall guy!

I would agree. Adding to that, Tyler Palko is probably THE worst QB to ever play in the NFL.

Not screwing him out of money, just making sure his contract isn't fully guaranteed. He still got paid for everything he's done in the pre-season, just like any other player who was released. This way, though, they are able to dump him without ramifications mid-season if they need.

Show me some tape where he earned any money by his on-field performance.
