Yup, pete spoke about it in a press conference yesterday. He's in excellent shape, as strong as ever and looks ready to live up to his draft status.

I'll undoubtedly take flak for this, but if we can find someone to do well with return duties, i think a full healthy season out of carpenter has the potential to rival the impact of harvin being healthy enough to play all year. Not just because of how carp can progress between two all-pros, but also how bad the talent was filling that spot last season. The impact could be just as big on this offenses success IMO

I have no problem with that statement. Harvin is a luxury, we NEED Carpenter to play well.

Was really trying to word that correctly, so as not to convey that: Carp>Harvin, in my mind.

Yea i agree we can cope without Harvin catching passes gonna need someone to emerge as a PR now though.

@TomPelissero: "On plane back from Seattle now. Most surprising revelation based on what I saw/heard there: not 100% sure Antoine Winfield makes the team. Don't get me wrong. I like Winfield, still think he can play. But Jeremy Lane, Byron Maxwell, Will Blackmon, others are off to strong starts."

Pelissero became a very distinguished and reliable beat reporter for the Vikings, until recently being kicked upstairs to USA Today sports.

In terms of playing ability right now, Walter Thurmond may well be able to push Winfield or be better at this point. But his health is far too much of a concern, there's almost no situation where I dont see Winfield as the Nickel come the regular season barring injury.

Hopefully Ware can pick up the full-back position well, because he definitely is a threat with the ball in his hands. Has looked good in the glimpses i've had of him.

To me, the report on Winfield seems more like PC lobbying for one of his other CBs to have more trade value. Lane, Winfield, and Maxwell have all proved to be starters in this league- we can't keep them all, so I believe one of lane or Maxwell will be traded for a 5th round pick before final cuts.

Younger kids tend to look better in pads as well. I could see Thurmond pushing Browner for a starting spot, but IMO Winfield is locked in a nickel corner where we got burned so many times last year. Sherman, Browner, Lane, and Maxwell are better on the outside...only Winfield and Thurmond can play elite Nickel CB.

Veltung is sleeper to make this team, possibly even a favorite at this point. He's had no trouble getting open or catching the ball whenever i've seen him, and we all know about his return ability and athleticism.

According to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, our very own Kam Chancellor played the entire 2012 season with the same injury Harvin is dealing with, though he admits the extent of the injuries could be different.

How did we never hear about this with Kam until now?

Players should make an effort to come forward with these aches and pains sooner, clearly you never know what it could be.

That must have been the surgery kam had right when the season ended. I guess the good new is kam is going to be back back and better than ever this year.

Probably kept it a secret to keep himself from being targeted by opposing teams/players.
