Both are 2015 free agents and I don't know how PC/JS won't ink both guys, but let's play the assumption game.

I would hope they sign a long term deal with Sherman first because he hasn't seen a payday and if push comes to shove they can franchise ET because safety franchise is considerably less than CB.

Which guy would you extend if you could only sign 1 guy?

Assuming the tag isn't available, I go for ET. I trust the CB depth more than the S depth, especially at FS.

ETs range is more important....and I doubt he will cost us as much. I bet we could sign ET and Brandon Browner for as much as Sherm could get.

Thomas in a heartbeat. I value safety play more than corner play and they are cheaper to retain. Also feel that good corners are more easily found in the draft than good safeties. Bad corner play can also be somewhat covered up by a good pass rush and good safety play. Bad safeties allow big big plays and can really screw things up on lane control (if asked to box) and crossing routes. They also completely annihilate any chance at running a zone D.

Great point about the franchise tag. Bias not aside, I'd rather have Sherman on this team for the long-haul.

An admittance that the non-biased choice is Earl?

Dang, this is really tough. I guess ET cause safeties with his range don't come around very often and I like Lane and Simon. I know we will re sign both though. Those guys are family they love this team and city and want to bring us some rings, I am confident they take discounts

An admittance that I am consciously bias in my answer. Not necessarily saying the unbiased answer is Earl.

Neither. With all that money, I give it all to Wilson!!! WE DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE!!!!!11!!1one

Jk, but seriously, this is a tough one. I'd probably go with Thomas just because it's harder to find elite safeties now-a-days. And his range helps a lot in run defense as well.
