Pittsburgh seems to be a very loyal sports market and has so much passion for their teams, I'm curious on why this city doesn't have an NBA franchise. Markets like Memphis, Orlando, Milwaukee, Charlotte, and a few others seem to not be a great position to thrive. Why hasn't there been any discussion of a team going to Pittsburgh?

I'm surprised that Missouri doesn't have a team as well.

There is no way Mizzou could support a Bball team. They are already a basbeball town and don't support the Rams much.

There we go, there's the expansion team to go along with Seattle. 32 teams in the NBA. Seattle in the West, Pittsburgh in the East, perfect!

How would Pitt be a better place than Charlotte? Laughing

I'll be honest, if a city deserves a team that doesn't currently have one (besides Seattle) it should be Baltimore.

Seriously Laughing
This time of the year in Pittsburgh is hockey season. Ever hear of Sidney Crosby or Mario Lemieux? People from the Burgh would hear of a 6th man and think it involves a power play.

lol dude, it's Charlotte! What a terrible question lololol what's good in Charlotte? Like what makes one say "aaah, that's Charlotte if I ever heard it described!"

In Pitt at least you can say it is a grimy city that just wins wins wins. Great food. Great fans. Oh and Wiz is from Pitt.....

Charlotte? blehhhhhhh! I'd choose Pitt over Charlotte personally......

Exactly.

broncos67 - I don't think that would sit well with the Wizards.

Charlotte is the number 17 city in terms of population. Pittsburg isn't even in the top fifty! Laughing

The state of North Carolina is legendary for it's basketball. During the late 90s/ Early 00s Saw one of the most successfull franchises in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets. Which even now leads in terms of Throwback sells by a huge margin nation wide. Laughing

Charlotte is a noted sports city with CFB, NBA, NFL, and Nascar. On top of that it also host national golfing events, the CIAA tournament, NCAA tournament games, and the ACC tournament.

In no way is Pittsburg a better overall sports city than Charlotte. Laughing

Hockey? Heck yes.

NFL? Sure, the Panthers are still rather young.

NBA? No chance in the world would they put a team in Pitt over Charlotte. Hell, they won't even get one before Seattle or Virgina Beach.

There's a reason Philly has one and Pittsburg doesn't. It's because it's not a good city for it.

I go to Charlotte every summer to visit my grandma. Not a place I love more than North Carolina.

If Charlotte gets a lot of crap for being a "Small Market" What do you think Pitt will be called for? Laughing

I'm assuming your a Bobcats fan.

I understand it's a fairly large city. But why aren't the fans really loyal to the Bobcats? I feel like even if they were a playoff team they wouldn't really have a great attendance. A lot like Atlanta, they're a large city but don't have the best market for a basketball team. Pittsburgh is known for it's great fans.
