It's a 1-year deal.
The 32-year old Koppen entered the league as a 5th round pick in 2003 and immediately became a starter and went on to win back-to-back Superbowls in 2003 and 2004. He was selected to the Pro-Bowl in 2007.
Koppen played 121 career games but was limited to 1 game last season after a week 1 injury.
He was released after a horrible pre-season that saw him get benched several times, he clearly lost much of his playing ability following his injury and due to his age.

Very good signing. He will help both Beadles and Ramirez beside him _________________

The lists of players who can play center that the Pats chose over him:
Dan Connolly
Ryan Wendell
Nick McDonald
Matt Tennant (he has since been cut)
He was also pretty bad at pass rush one-on-ones in training camp. At one point, he had lost 9 in a row, I believe.
I like the guy and I'm really grateful for what he did with the Pats, but he's done. Having him start at center when the Pats play the Broncos would be awesome. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

He's not very good anymore. |

| He likely won't start - I thought JD Walton was a pretty decent starter? Can't hurt to have a guy with his experience as a back-up. |

Where did you hear that? Eugene Amano is to the Texans as Walton is to the Broncos. Except Walton is still starting for us.
I think anything is an upgrade over Walton. _________________

Isn't Amano on the Titans? But Walton isn't as bad as some make him out to be. However, he can certainly be upgraded. _________________

I dunno - I thought he was a capable starter. Decent in pass pro. Not All-Pro or anything but certainly not needing to sign a guy off the street to replace him right away. |

Walton has actually looked decent so far this year. We'll see if it was just a good game or if he actually is improved, but so far he looks significantly improved from last year. _________________ Broncos-Bulls-Cubs-CU-Blackhawks |
