What I want to see is one of these three scenarios tomorrow: - we say f%$k it, and move up to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. - we don't like what is left at 10, move down, add a second-rounder, and go either WR/OT, OT/WR or WR/OG with our first two picks. - the draft falls perfectly for us and one of the two top OTs (Alt or Fashanu), or one of the top three WRs (Harrison Jr., Nabers or Odunze) falls to us. Let's go!

I don't really care because I was not one of those people getting excited about a guy who could throw 70 yards down the field indoors at Lucas Oil Field. Without anybody defending him. As great as Favre was, he was not Aaron Rodgers. I look at it differently. Had we hit on either QB, and by hit I mean that they would have become competent starting QBs (because they were never more than that), we would have never had the opportunity to bring in an all-time great. A TRUE franchise quarterback, not a pretender. Hopefully, there are lessons learned here. And the lesson is stop trying to draft the next Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers with a top-5 pick in the draft! The odds of hitting are low. The odds for THIS snake-bitten franchise of hitting on a franchise QB that early are lower than hell. Stop doing it. Make sure you have a guy in place when you draft his eventual successor. Mahomes had Alex Smith; Brady had Drew Bledsoe; Rodgers, of course, had Favre. And Jordan Love had Rodgers. Oh, sure CJ Stroud. Everybody wants that. But it does not happen nearly enough. And yet, NFL teams continue to over-draft quarterbacks and wind up paying dearly for their mistakes. I hope four quarterbacks go in the top five this year...just so we can laugh and do the Mutombo finger wag to all of them in four years when they are still searching for an answer at the position.

This is what smart franchises that win do. They put the proper people in the roles they can succeed in, then compensate them well when they do succeed. Stability in a front office and staff is the benchmark of successful franchises. OFC, having players like Mahomes and Kelce is a good start too.

You're going to comment on how Oregon made life easy on Nix while pimping Penix who played with an elite level Oline and 3 WRs who will be drafted this week? Penix is the product of that offense and the talent. His WRs bailed him out time and time again. He was rarely pressured but when taken off his spot, he was unable to make plays out of structure. He struggles over the middle and in the intermediate game.
