for breaching Financial Fair Play!!!!
| Quote: | Uefa's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has released an official statement announcing that 23 clubs have had their prize money withheld pending further investigation.
The clubs, all of whom are involved in European competition in 2012-13, had to provide information regarding the status of any overdue payables as at June 30, 2012. While these are part of the first measure of the new Financial Fair Play structure, there is no suggestion that particular rules regarding overspending have been breached.
Having identified that important overdue payables towards other clubs, and/or towards employees or social/tax authorities existed in 23 cases, the CFCB has punished each club involved, including Atletico Madrid, Malaga, Sporting CP and Fenerbahce.
The investigatory chamber will continue its investigations and request the clubs involved to provide an updated situation as of September 30, 2012. This conservatory measure will remain into force until all identified balances have been settled in full, or until a final decision has been taken. |

PSG.... Chelsea.... Manchester City.....?
EDIT: I read the article but wanted to see UEFA to go after the big clubs that are in huge debt. I feel like this move is small when they should be going after the bigger fish. _________________

Did you even read the article?
This is about clubs not paying suppliers, honestly. _________________

This is only the first check. It's about unpaid taxes, wages, and transfer fees. The next step is debt. _________________

My immediate thoughts as well, but I have been given the impression from a few articles that UEFA is already pretty closely working with these 3 clubs so there probably wouldn't have been a need to include them in the probe. Chelsea did have a hugely increased revenue stream from winning the CL and thus qualifying for the CL, and winning the FA Cup to buy some of these new players. Man City had a fairly quiet window by their standards.
I think this is a bit of smoke & mirrors to give some illusion that things are being done, when in reality it's going to be hard monitor every possible way clubs can work around these discretionary rules. _________________

Yes, I did. While I agree that UEFA is right in stopping clubs who don't get much revenue to stop going crazy in spending and then going bankrupt, I think they are attacking the smaller clubs, but aren't addressing the bigger issue with the bigger clubs. The bigger clubs is why FFP was put into effect, no?

All these clubs should have accountants that should be reporting their fiances on a quarterly or yearly basis and be reporting to UEFA about their fiances. I know there are a lot of clubs, but if UEFA is honest with itself in making FFP a success then it needs to get the man power to do so.
They can hand out millions in the Champions League. I'm sure they can spent some more on more work force or find a private audit company. _________________

It's not about paying the bill, it's about UEFA asking clubs to spent as much as they make from revenues. Not banks or sugar daddies. _________________

The bolded above implies a lack of funds, not a surplus from non-sanctioned sources. Not entirely sure of what your point is, but seeing as how we have a better understanding of your post than you do, I can bet it's stupid. _________________

I get the point. I just wished we could of seen more and the reason why FFP was put in place. The big debt of clubs. _________________

Elrey never reads the articles he posts or understands what's going on.
Elrey, FFP doesn't start the revenue hoopla until 2013/14 season. What starts right now is whether the teams are paying their taxes, pay off vendors players, etc. And the point of FFP isn't suppose to attack a club at any level or size, it is to prevent wealthy owners from injecting cash into the club. This will probably affect smaller/middle size clubs because the wealthy teams can already support their already large wage/transfer budget. You won't see teams like Leeds or Aston Villa injecting a large sum of cash into the club hoping that they will get CL money.
The system now in place is now just going to extend the gap between the CL teams and everyone else. ManU Real Barca City Chelsea Arsenal Bayern are now just going to be able to outspend everyone because they get the CL money year in and year out. |
