I'm not crazy about losing value outright through this season - it doesn't make a lot of sense for us as close as we are.
I'd be in favor of player-for-player trading however.
OR
Tag'n'trade next year.
Unless we get some great, great value like 1st rd+ for him. |

After this game, and the past few where we couldn't push the ball down the field I think Jennings has moved into one of the must hang onto players with Rodgers, Matthews, and Raji. _________________ @PJHotel_ |

I give it about a 5% chance he's back with us next year.
I'm glad he made a great commercial (jet-ski) while still in a Packer uniform. |

This.
Offense was ugly (UGLYYYYYY) tonight. Get Jennings healthy, get him 70/1100/10, resign him as a 70/1100/10 guy because thats what he does.
Dynasty.
Is this the Busch Light talking? |

| I'd prefer to trade Finley rather than Jennings if it is better/possible. |

It won't be the same, but this post makes me wonder if you've ever seen a Bears/Packers game before. They are almost always harry. _________________

how bout his stats the previous game, or the game before that where they almost beat us with their backup QB in the NFC championship game...... I rest my case. Making a case about anything after a bears game is ridiculous. _________________

I disagree. My case: The Bears still suck. My evidence: They're the Bears.
I win, give me a cookie.
But on topic, I don't think we would move him this season. If he leaves for big money, we will take the comp pick and move on. I don't think he has been a distraction, there is no need to get rid of him. _________________ GO PACK GO!

When was the last time we traded a solid piece during the season?
When was the last time we traded a solid piece? Javon Walker? |
The "when was the last time" tactic doesn't really apply. When was the last time the Packers were in this exact situation? Well the answer is never.
I love Greg, but his contract demands seem prohibitive. For the right deal, I would absolutely trade him. That said, trading a star player on a contending team for no immediate help probably isn't good for your team moral at all. So when you consider the situational implications, and the fact that a tag and trade is a viable option as well, the in-season offer would have to be pretty extraordinary to warrant consideration.
If he has a good season and is tagged, he could probably field a late 2nd. In order for them to trade him now, it would probably have to be a first.
So basically, I think for a 1st rounder, yes. Otherwise, probably not. |
But do we really know what his contract demands are? Last night on the NFL Network's pregame show Michael Irvin was very glowing in his compliments about Greg calling him one of the elite WRs in the league. I'll be disappointed if we can't resign him. _________________

yah we gotta keep greg...
BUT, if he wasn't more than 8-10 M a year, no way we can swing it.
i heard he is targeting a fitzgerald type contract..16M a year. i don't think he's in THAT level of elite....10M is absolute tops. on the packs, 8M _________________ GREEN BAY PACKERS

No reason to trade him in-season, not when we've got Super Bowl aspirations. Wait until the offseason and see what happens. A lot can change before then. Maybe his demands are reasonable and we can get a deal done. Maybe we can work out a tag-and-trade deal if his demands are too high. Worst case scenario is taking the comp. pick. I'd like more compensation than that for sure, but putting the best product on the field and taking our shot at a championship is the most important thing. Play this season out, then see what happens. _________________
