Obviously BB is bringing Winslow in to show Gronk how a REAL TE plays. |

Why the need? Don't they have like 6 TEs on the roster already? _________________

Aaron Hernandez is hurt.
The Pats have 4 TEs right now, not including Winslow. |

I'm not a Pats fan, but I'm already ordered mine. _________________

He's only the third healthy TE on the roster right now. Here's the breakdown:
Gronkowski - healthy
Winslow - as healthy as he'll ever be
Hoomanawanui - healthy, possible cut after Winslow signing
Hernandez - low ankle sprain
Fells - has missed a lot of time with a calf injury, was questionable last week but did not play
Shiancoe - hamstring injury, on temporary IR
Ballard - recovering from torn ACL, on PUP, may go straight to IR
Herman - UDFA, on IR |

A team where TE's seem to be dropping like flies signs Kellen Winslow Jr., wonder what the outcome will be.
J/K, it is a good signing. Pats need someone to replace Hernandez and Winslow is probably the best they can get at this point... |

That was a rumor. Its more likely they just weren't that impressed.
Obviously circumstances have changed so they have to settle for him either way. _________________

Or that, at the time, they were just updating their emergency lists. _________________

High ankles sprains can be REALLY tough, especially depending on the severity. They say definitely two weeks, but if its a high ankle there could also be some Achilles damage there and if so, that could limit explosiveness for at least two months time maybe longer. When I had a H.A.S. in HS, it took me about 8 months to really START feeling normal. I mean I played on the ankle sprain after 2 weeks, but I could feel bones crunching all the while and felt like I had no Achilles tendon in my right foot while I ran... but then again I also didn't have NFL doctors tending to me and hyperbolic chambers to sleep in to get ready for games....
So all that said, the Pats needed to get an insurance policy for a few weeks and that is Kellen Winslow. He'll should be good in Hernandez role if he can fight through his own injury history.
He probably won't see too much complicated work in Baltimore though. _________________
