Very sad. From Commissioner Goodell: "Deeply saddened to announce Steve Sabol died this morning after his 18 month battle with brain cancer"

Rest in Peace Steve. You and your father have changed the lives of so many NFL fans. The NFL wouldn't be where it is at today without him. I know like a lot of you I spent many many afternoons as a kid watching NFL Films.

Oh my. I had no idea he was even sick. As others said, he's a true legend. R.I.P. Steve. My condolences to the family.

Very sad. This guy helped mold the way we all see the NFL.

He deserves a bust in Canton next to his pops.

Steve and Ed Sabol are two of the greatest human beings to ever live. They brought millions of people closer to the sport they love and they did it with such class and dignity. True gentlemen, true pioneers and true fans of the game of football. Goodbye Steve.
