This is the story of Junior Syracuse runningback Daryck Dredd.

Daryck's career wasn't followed too closely by anyone except the people from the small town of Troy, Alabama. The people of Troy, a small farming town, had nothing better to do than go to football games on Fridays, where they would watch Dredd and the Huskies. After going 7-0 in the regular season, the Huskies made it to the playoffs, and drove on to the state championship game, which Dredd was the player of the game of.

Despite his career 3.2 ypc average, Dredd got alot of looks from D1 schools, but ultimately decided to attend Syracuse University, following in the footsteps of his idol, Jim Brown. Syracuse let him on the team after discovering his 40 time he ran at the Alabama high school combine (He ran a 4.17 and came in at 5'10" 189 lbs)

Dredd's freshman season was uneventful as he couldnt stay the starter after a few fumbles and sleeping with the defensive coordinator's daughter. He finished the season with 271 yards on 61 carries for 4.4 ypc and 4 touchdowns. He did better in the receiving game, catching 29 passes for 252 yards for 8.7 ypc and 2 tds. Syracuse only lost one game and made it to a bowl game against georgia tech, which Syracuse won.

Dredd got the start 3 games into his sophomore season and exploded for 1828 yards on 178 carries for 10.3 ypc and 16 tds and had 946 yards on 70 catches and 6 tds. Syracuse went 8-4 and went on to beat #12 Oklahoma in the fiesta bowl in 5 overtimes 62-60. Dredd was player of the game.

Now, Dredd is on the national radar as the number 3 back in the nation behind Georgia's Jermaine Everett and Oregon's Brad Moore. Dredd is also 5th n the Heisman Watch.

With Daryck's newfound fame came intrigue from major newspapers and television media. Eddie Brock of the Daily Bugle was the first to interview Dredd.

Brock: Hello Daryck, I'm Eddie Brock from the Daily Bugle. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions.

Daryck: For sure, man. Ask away.

Brock: You were a relative nobody the last few years despite being a 4 star prospect coming out of high school. It must be strange seeing your name everywhere now.

Daryck: It is. It's astounding that I'm being recognized for my on the field accolades.

Brock: You certainly have been impressive. What are your plans and goals after college?

Daryck: Well, mom wants me to become a business major and start my own business, but with my football success, i think ill try to make a career out of it.

Brock: Bulking up to 205 over the offseason probably helps your chances. Any idea what team youd want to play for?

Daryck: Well, Jim Brown played for the Browns, but they have Richardson. I could see myself as a Lion or Colt. Both teams need a back.

Brock: Cool. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me and good luck this season.

Daryck Dredd didnt disappoint din dhis dfirst dgame dof deh dseason.

The Orange ripped apart FCS West 62-7 and Dredd ran for 276 yards on 7 carries. Dredd was outstanding in the first quarter, taking his first 3 carries for a total of 199 yards and 3 touchdowns. After the game, reporters came in waves, but were boxed out by Syracuse's body guards. One man made it through, though. Easily. Body guards were no match for him. Who is this man? None other than Tank Bawse.

Tank: The NFL doesnt pay enough for my aptit. But I'm here to help.

Daryck: With what?

Tank: I'm here to bulk you up. Fix your knee. I saw you in Brian's Song.

Daryck: Brian's so...what? Do you think I'm Gale Sayers?

Tank: You're not? I've made a huge mistake..

Combine time!

Pre combine interviews:
Daryck Dredd talked to the Lions, Packers, Patriots, and Bengals.

Speedster Dredd outran everyone in the 40 and posted a time of 4.21, making him the fastest runningback ever at an NFL combine. He also participated in the bench, putting up 225 19 times and a 38.0 in the vertical. He scored a 32 on his Wonderlic.

After the combine, Daryck was interviewed by the Buccaneers, Redskins, Colts, and Raiders.

Daryck was very impressive in his pro day workouts and by the end was considered by many the top runningback in the draft and a surefire 1st round pick. Draft analyst Mel Kiper referred to Dredd as a guaranteed success in the nfl and the next big thing.

Skip Bayless does not know who Daryck Dredd is but referred to him as a bust because "his name sounds busty".

It took Daryck 2 weeks to win the starting job, after Best and Smith led the Lions to an 0-2 start. Dredd didn't slow down once he was given a chance to succeed, rushing for 1733 yards and 25 touchdowns in just 14 games. The Lions went on to win their next 16 games and found themselves in the superbowl for the first time ever. Dredd weaved his way through the Texans defense in the superbowl on his way to 152 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns. He also had 93 yards receiving, including the game sealing touchdown. The Lions won 31-14 and Dredd was named MVP. He was also named league MVP, Offensive Rookie of the Year, Runningback of the Year, and made the All Pro team.

Daryck's career stats (1 season)
183 car 1733 yds 9.5 ypc 25 tds 108.3 ypg 82 lg
84 cat 980 yfs 11.7 ypc 10 tds 61.3 ypg 34 lg

After living in the outskirts of Detroit all season, Dredd felt he needed to become a bigger part of his city by actually living in it. He moved into a high grade apartment and whilst moving in, he was mugged 4 times. It was then that Dredd decided this wasn't the town for him and demanded his release from the team, which reluctantly granted his request.

The Broncos and Bills were quick to send him offers, both for 4 years and $8.36m. Soon after, the Steelers sent one for 4 years and $11.8m. Weighing his options, Dredd decided to sign with Denver, as it would be his last chance to play beside Peyton Manning. Daryck is now a Denver Bronco.
