I thought TP's swagger made you a believer?

No Sir! But I have joined the anti-Pamer bandwagon. Sure Palmer basically put the team on back THIS game but he need to lead the Raiders to the playoffs before I defect from my new brotherhood. Heck, there was as incident where he ALMOST fumbled while getting crushed on a sack and at least twice during critical moments down the stretch where he seemed to THINK about throwing a pick 6. Nor did Palmer take responsibility for causing the safety to lead with his helmet high into DHB's chin because clearly he was going for the ball and not the contact. Lastly, there was no kewl Superman celebration for me to emulate. His leadership doesn't motivate his teammates he's just bland; I bet Palmer eats vanilla ice cream plain.

What did he do that was so bad?

wasnt he guarding miller a lot?

According to those stats he gave up 26 yards passing and that's counting the TD catch where Branch and Huff both went inside and left the outside wide open for Miller to walk into the end zone. If very poorly is giving up 26 yards when the opposing QB has all day to throw, i'm not quite sure what ok, good or great would take.

He's a sticky tackler. He's better than what we've had so I will take it.

i dunno the new refs have been killing us with the no-calls.

in mia they missed a real bad hold on the long bush run, also moore got tackled on a redzone play dont know how they missed it
vrs pitt huff got clipped real nasty in the redzone

just two major plays off the top of my head.

we are playing smarter refs have nothing to do with that imo. we were the kings of false starts, pi's and encroachment. besides the pi's most of the flags had nothing to do with the refs.

my friend was clowning saying since we are 10yrds off the line in zone 90% of the time we will never get a defensive pi this year Laughing

I for one am rejoicing over the new officials. For once, in the 30 years I have been watching the Raiders, the refs seem to be messing up everyone's games and not just ours. They may make alot of mistakes, but they're not calling anything with bias. I hope the old refs never come back. The whole knows now what it's like to be the Raiders on Sunday. Gotta beat the opponent and the refs.

Just watched the game again. File Brisel under bad.

This was the 'big FA acquisition' this offseason and the guy looks like the week link on the Oline each week.

He gave up the only sack on Palmer and missed a number of key blocks in the run game.

This was the guy who came over from Houston, ZBS specialist and he honestly looks pretty bad out there. Not getting leverage. Missing blocks and had a false start penalty inside the 10 yard line.

Yes he has been a disappointment thus far. He has always had issues with penalties which was why I wondered why we signed him. Would have prefered we signed Winston to shore up the RT position.

Umm.... they always mess up everyone else's games. File it under the notion that humans are not perfect.

No one was ever out to get us. I think it's merely that Raider fans watch no other team. I don't understand how people have no seen this time and time again.

I don't believe they were out to get us but I do believe however if there was a 50/50 call it would 90% of the time go to the opposition purely because of our reputation.

Thats how I felt. At the same time I think having a coach that doesnt make excuses not matter what helps with the refs perception of us in that regard.

I disagree. Sorry.
I watch plenty of football, alot of Jets and Giants, and A decent amount of Patriots as well as other games.
Their fans are up in arms and flabbergasted when anything happens to their team in refereeing that even closely resembles what happens to our team year in and year out. Seriously, on the rare occasion my brother in law has something happen to his Giants like I see every other week in Raider games, he is nothing short of absolutely livid. He's not used to having his Ginats have to beat the refs and the other team at the same time. Same goes for my other brother in law Pats fan. And in law parents who are Giant fans. And sister in law who is a Packer fan.

Every team and fan has calls that they don't like, we all know that. But I am of the objective belief that the original referees have a long standing bias against the Raiders.
And you know what, I don't even believe like some very suspicious Raider fans that it's some sort of conspiracy having to do with Al Davis' issues with the NFL. On the contrary, I don't think it has anything to do with the NFL.

Reading up on the strike/lockout, it became clear to me the kind of autonomous power the refs actually have. They can barely be fired and their performance reviews are ineffectual at best. They're like tenured professors who can essentially do whatever they want. They wield way too much power over the game if they choose, and they believe they are not only an integral part of the game but stars in their own right. Their request for a percentage of the growing profits of the NFL game belies this belief..

All I know is I literally have been laughing every Sunday, because every fan is learning right now what it's like to be a Raider fan. I don't think the new refs have enough of the game under their belts to enforce a bias as they ref, even if they had a reason to have one. They have enough to chew on.

I don't have any logical proof of a bias with the old refs, I just know I'm not watching the same thing as I was before. I know it with every ounce of my being. And I know that this new refereeing crew would not have a preexisting reason to be biased, whereas I simply cannot trust that with the old crews..

I watched Palmer's throws again. On his first throw, the interception, there was a Steeler lined up offsides before the snap.

Other things I noticed:
Woodley was offsides a few times.

Willie Smith does get beat at times, but he did pretty well on other plays. I'm fine with the overall game from him since he was against Woodley.

Our WR's were getting molested.

Ryan Mundy is an absolute POS. After he wrecked DHB, he went for a helmet to helmet shot on DSmooth. If Moore didn't get his head out of the way it would have been like the Gannon/Brooks hit that broke vertebrae. As if that wasn't bad enough, he kind of tried setting one up again on Myers. Still hit him H2H though. And guess what? That was the play Myers got concussed on. And around that time, he was lined up to do the same to McFadden if McFadden didn't get his pads lower. So Mundy gave not one, but 2 concussions and lined up 2 other guys to give the same fate.

This. Wheeler has been great. Miller is a solid TE. He's going to get his. Wheeler is always around the ball and forced to fumbles in the process. That's a step in the right direction for this D.

McClain who showed out week 1 has went back to McLame for me. Guy looks slow and is back to whiffing again. Burris is the guy that keeps growing.
Don't know when Curry is back, and i'm not sure if Curry, Burris and Wheeler fit together in a 4-3, but those 3 at least on the field look like they really want to hit a guy, fly to the ball make the tackle and seem to enjoy it. McClain just looks like he's forced to be on the field or something.

Yeah you're right. Don't know why I didn't list that one too. Mundy's a punk.
