And, yes..... I KNOW it's a QB-driven league. There IS NO Luck, RG3, or Newton in this class, however. Doesn't matter if it's KC, Philly, Oakland, or the Jags picking first; this does NOT look like the year to pick for NEED at the quarterback position. But.... somebody PROBABLY will.
THAT aside, any of those teams that are likely to wind up with the top pick have some pretty obvious needs other than QB. And, in this particular, rather bland draft class, I think that the strength of it lies in LINEMEN... both offensive and defensive. It just is what it is, this year.
In summary: The 2nd-most desired commodity after a TRUE, franchise QB is his protector; a quality left tackle. With regards to Smith, Lotuleilei, Jones, and whomever else, I think that any team that is likely to be picking #1 in this draft should draft Luke Joekel, OT, Texas A&M. Safest pick to be had, at a position of extreme importance.
As always, feel free to disagree! _________________ Why have a signature? I don't need to be famous................................................. |

The second most desired commodity is a pass rusher...not a LT.
But I think a QB still goes #1. _________________

When you're 2-14 and have terrible QB play and you have the number 1 pick, you're going to draft a QB.
Geno Smith is late first round talent at best. But he's going number 1 overall. _________________

The answer is Geno, whether he is the best player or not. I think it's pretty apparent he isn't. _________________

Bad year to have the #1 pick but Geno would still be the right pick... Always the possiblity of a trade but that team would also take Geno. No other player is worth trading up for #1 IMO. _________________

Sorry if I offended you. I think he's first round talent-that's a compliment.
He obviously isn't worth the number 1 pick and anyone can tell you that. _________________

Got to be Geno. I think in the near future, it'd take somebody really special to go #1 in front of a QB. _________________

I think Jarvis Jones is the only player whose talent and production are worthy of the number one pick, I suppose you could make an argument for Star as well, but I don't think he's nearly as good a player as Suh, Fairley, or McCoy. Honestly, I think whoever gets this years number one, should trade out of it, in hopes that whoever they trade it to can't make a quick turnaround. I've said it before, I think the top seven prospects in the country right now are all sophomores, Clowney, Tuitt, Lee, Watkins, Seferian-Jenkins, and Purifoy. |

Geno Smith will go number one overall if Kansas City or Jacksonville has the pick. If Oakland has the pick they'll most likely trade back with a team that falls in love with Geno. _________________

If the Chiefs pick 1st it's definitely Geno.
If the Jags or Raiders pick 1st it's either Geno, Moore, or Star. _________________

The 2011 draft has spoiled people. Just look at past drafts, Geno has had a better college career than most QB's that came out of the first round. I mean hell, Gabbert came out of the first and Geno is obviously much better than him. Your not giving Smith enough credit. |

And Colt Brennan had a better college career than anybody ever.
More goes into drafting someone than a successful college career. _________________

I wasn't saying it's the end all be all. I'm just saying he deserves being drafted in the first. He is that good. |
