Walcott will occasionally pop up, get a goal or two, then hibernate for a few weeks. He needs to be gone in January. _________________

Walcott scored treetop meaningless goals, but like his performance, had no affect on the outcome.
It's amazing how consistent he it's at consistently losing the ball. It's almost Nani-esque. _________________

Sahin brace saves Liverpool and Rodgers some face. Two good goals, one a long range that Foster bungled a bit, the other on the end of a nice buildup from Suso and Assaidi. He's quality, can't believe Madrid preferred Essien to him.... _________________

Squad depth is a beautiful thing. We started what, 2 regular starters today? Honestly couldn't care less about the League Cup, just love beating our rivals no matter what the stage is _________________

Arshavin is pretty pathetic, like we all knew.
There were some nice pieces for arsenal today, but in the first half they were bad when they got anywhere near goal.
Coventry put up a decent fight for a while but once the third went in, that was it.
There were also two half-streakers who ran on, which is why the giroud penalty was delayed, pretty funny. |
Didn't Arshavin set up two goals and score one himself? I didn't see the game, but I don't see how a player can be 'pathetic' with that type of production. |
Therein lies the issue with only watching highlights and the bane of my arguments with united fans (TV fans) for years.
Those were probably the only passes he completed all night.
Coventry were also fairly easily got at. |
The game was not broadcasted on TV, nor does watching full games on TV give people "less credible" opinions than those who are able to see matches in person regularly. After all, wasn't it you that said Gervinho was a "horrible" player last year and Per Mertesacker "a scrub"? |

In his defence Gervinho was a pretty bad player last year and certainly sucked big time against City. _________________

Gervinho was bad when he returned from the African Cup of Nations, but his talent was evident in Fall 2011. I won't defend Gervinho's finishing, but his runs are terrific and he always finds himself in perfect positions.
My point is that texans_uk claimed that I, and consequently other fans from the states (TV fans), can't accurately judge players because we don't see the nuances fans who watch games live see. But I remember him dismissing two Arsenal players who were still adjusting to the Premier League and now appear to have acclimated quite nicely (especially Mertesacker). If you're going to accuse me of judging players from watching highlights, you better defend your previous half-assed opinions. That's all I'm saying. |

Mertesacker was fifty shades of sh!te last year for the vast majority of his season, and ended up out for the year (almost mercifully). The reason he's looked better this year is because he's being played deeper by Bould, which plays to his strengths. Doesn't change the fact that he sucked last year. _________________

Haha are you real?
Gervinho and Mertesacker were horse [inappropriate/removed] last season everyones knows that.
I'm not sure what Gervinho had achieved this season to dispel that thought, plenty of players "make good runs", Diego Forlan was excellent at them fat lot of use that turned out to be.
Mertesacker is better last year primarily, like dhunt said, because he is paying in a role more suited to his skill set. Again, doesn't change the fact he was the laughing stock of that Arsenal team last season.
The difference between watching a match live at the stadium or live on TV is reasonable, the difference between watching an entire match versus watching 3 minute highlights is considerable. That's my point, Arshavin was terrible last night as was Walcott, but watching the highlights or merely looking at the raw stats would suggest they both played a pivotal role.
I'm not criticising you for it, seen as you decided to question my opinion despite admitting to neither seeing the game or highlights, I am staying what I witnessed. _________________
