I wonder what made the NFL cave. The awful publicity, or the owners? _________________

Um the NFL are the owners ?
If the owners didn't want this deal it wouldn't get done.
Judging by the mass praising of the real refs after this weekend I presume we're not going to see any complaints on here about bad calls next weekend ?
Apart from the mortreport tweet I see nothing confirming it for this weekend only that it looks like a deal will be done but nothing definite yet. |

OK, badly phrased. Did the owners cave because of the publicity or because the product on the field was suffering to the degree it was?
I'm sure the Pack ownership group would have wanted to get the deal done after MNF for example. I wonder how many of the owners care enough about football to sacrifice some money for the quality of the game. _________________

Of course we will, I actually thought the replacement refs would've done a decent job, with how bad the refs have been the previous years. I was wrong _________________

It's entirely possible that the NFL didn't cave or there was some compromise on the pension issue. I doubt the league completely caved and everything is staying as is, but as of right now, we have no idea which way it went. _________________

Something that a buddy of mine (a Packer fan) brought up the other night is that the Packers are owned by their fans. The owners are the reason we had replacement refs...
Anywho, I'm glad they finally got this done. How much rust do these guys have to shake off for the games this weekend _________________

My guess would be that the NFL caved because they saw the damage their brand was taking at the hands of the games/public backlash and decided that the hit taken from this backlash would be financially more than it would be to just meet in the middle with the refs. It always comes down to money, and they likely finally saw that they stood to lose more by continuing to hold out than they would be agreeing to a deal. _________________
