| So you're not locked out like it's a new post? It doesn't really make sense for things to work that way. Making new posts one after another, sure. But it doesn't really make sense to lock a poster out of fixing a mistake in a post for a certain amount of time. What does that accomplish? |

Very.
When I make a spelling area is a densely populated forum, I become mortified of someone calling me out. 
30 seconds feels like 30 minutes !

It won't be changed. It's likely like this so that a spammer can't make a bunch of topics that look like they're being constructive then edit all of them in a minute to be the spam. The way it is now, the spammer can't do too much damage before it's typically noticed and dealt with.

Spamming a forum isn't that lucrative, I doubt they would go to that much effort.
I know it's only 30 seconds, but it's kind of annoying having to wait after making a typo.

But on a more serious note, like iPwn alluded to it's a prevention for spammers. Same reason you can only send one PM at a time, post every so many seconds, etc.

Came in here to make a thread about this. It's really annoying when all I want to fix is a minor spelling error or if I messed up breaking up a big block into separate quotes.

Right, but can there not be a change to the code that makes no delay for just edits?

This is correct. The delay is there to prevent spammers. I don't see a 30 second delay as any real cause for concern. Thanks for your feedback. |
