Porter has been the Nationals 3rd base coach in 2012. This is a crazy story for me personally, as Porter (we called him Bo) was my coach in middle school on a baseball select team called the Hawkeyes (he played football and baseball at Iowa).
Another long term hire here by Luhnow as he is building towards a dominant future one step at a time.

Love the move. I would have been happy if we hired him, Bogar or the Rays bench coach. I believe he is the perfect guy to manage the team because he is young and he can relate to a player. Considering we wont be good for a while, Larry Bowa wouldnt have made sense.

Same. When the rumors of him being a head coach for us surfaced I was so pissed. |
I think one of the national beat writers (Heyman i think?) said he was being considered for the Miami job as it seems Ozzie is done.

I meant before the Ozzie hire. I doubt Ozzie gets fired.

Supposedly, he said he wants to stay on the west coast. I think he is holding out to coach in San Diego.

I would not be the least bit surprised if he is canned after this season after Heath Bell called him out in the media.

While I don't like the Nats, I wouldn't be that upset if Davey won another ring. I won't be rooting for them, but I wouldn't be upset to see Davey go out on top.
