Well we hit on this pick (6th round). I'm very excited about him, kid is active and aggressive. Once Taylor returns we could have the best interior defensive line for years to come. _________________

He's gifted. He needs to slow down sometimes though. He's one of the main reasons we can't cover a screen pass. _________________ 2013 First Ballot Recipient of the Joe Blackburn Award |

The D-line as a whole needs more awareness on that. Usually with a screen a DE is biggest culprit though _________________

Yeah, I'm really happy with how good Winn has been. I had a feeling he'd be better than your typical sixth-round pick, but I didn't know he'd be this good. I thought he might be a very good rotational guy but it looks like he could be a good starter. Now I see why he was once considered as a possible second-round pick.
Hughes has also been very good. It seems like most of us will have to eat crow for criticizing Heckert so much for that pick. I wasn't a fan of the pick, but I certainly didn't hate it as much as most Browns fans did.
Once Taylor returns, the Browns could very well have the best DT unit in the league in a year or two. Rubin & Taylor would form for one of the best starting duos in the league and then Hughes & Winn would be some of the best backups in the league. There might only be a few teams with a better starting DT duo than Cleveland, but those same teams likely wouldn't have depth that is as good as Cleveland's. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

Good post.
As far as the 'reach' of Hughes, I think a lot of folks got arsehurt at the fact that the FO didn't take the guy or position (WR) THEY wanted. They never bothered to even see what Hughes was all about and thought he was a reach because some draft site said so.
However, Heckert has shown an ability to spot defensive talent and has earned a bit of leeway in selecting his guys.
As far as Winn and Hughes as backups, at this rate they'll be better than most of the starting tandems the Browns have fielded since the return. _________________

I love how scheme versatile our DTs are. Our guys could line up anywhere in a 3-4 and can play any DT spot in our 4-3. _________________

I also would like to think that once Taylor comes back on running downs having Rubin, Taylor, Winn, and Hughes on the field at the same time is going to free up some linebackers.. _________________
