Statistics don't tell the whole story but even if they did Ed Reed still comes out on top.
These are their stats. Regular season and postseason combined.
Ed Reed:
Games played: 161
Interceptions: 67 (0.42)
Games with an interception: 53 (32.9%)
Touchdowns: 15
Darren Sharper:
Games played: 215
Interceptions: 65 (0.30)
Games with an interception: 56 (26.1%)
Touchdowns: 13 |
Not to mention INTS and TDs aren't a very good way of judging a safety as a whole. |
I mean, it IS certainly a very strong data point when discussing ballhawk/centerfield type safeties. Even leaving out playoffs and concentrating on regular season:
Reed: 59 Int in 148 career games
Sharper: 63 Int in 205 career games
Also, Reed is one of (if not the) most dangerous defensive players with the ball in his hands.

lulz, some guy trying to think I'm trying to pimp my own player. Funny thing is, the reason I posted this was because I have a few friends with a legit argument behind Darren Sharper being better so I wanted to hear the opinion of others. |
I will vouch for him. This is not about "Pimping" a player. People are too quick to hate.
I was there when the debate was started, but it is actually hilarious that people such as yourself come and state things like this.
It proves that his point is even stronger in the argument with another friend of ours.
