I'm going to chalk part of this up to the Thursday night thing on the road. That said - a few things:
1) I miss Levi - knew it was a bad sign when he went down. I was looking forward to perhaps a serviceable line before that happened - what is happening now is what I feared would happen when he went down.
2) Robert Quinn and Chris Long are really good - not this good though.
3) I picked a terrible time to back up Toler going into this game - he bit hard on the double-move and can't be on the field if he's going to make mental mistakes like that. Fleming not being out there is a mystery - must be some rookie issue with the coaches .
I'm hoping some of the guys get healed up with this longer week - and that everyone comes out fresh against Buffalo. |

Yup. All Russ Grimm. He's the guying calling 59 pass plays. He injured Levi Brown and Jeremy Bridges and never signed capable depth players. He signed 2 poor guards he never even met.
Fire Russ Grimm. That'll surely solve everything. |
Because russ grimm did such great work with Levi Brown? we didn't have a good line with Levi or Jeremy, granted not 9 sack bad either but still. |
Of course he didn't do good work with Jeremy Bridges, He was a 30 year old journeyman when we got him, not different than Batiste. You don't "work" with guys like that.
And what about Levi? The guy who was the 8th best run blocking tackle in the National Football League last season? You don't think having him would change some of what we've seen the last 2 weeks? |
I never said he didn't do anything with Bridges, I was arguing that he hasn't molded Levi. And so what if he is the 8th best run blocker in the league. Levi is bad at pass protection, and we are a pass happy team. Almost 60 pass attempts tonight backs my claim up. |
Pretty much every time we ran the ball in the 2nd half, it was for negative yardage. We literally started several drives 2nd and 12/13/15/etc because we lost serious yards when we ran. Levi would have helped out a lot. I'm not going to throw Grimm under the bus anyway just because one guy (who was overdrafted in the first place) didn't pan out. |
It's just funny to me how people can continue to ignore the truth just blindly lay everything on Russ Grimm. It's seriously almost comical at this point.
|
Never made any crazy claim that with out Russ Grimm we would win the Super Bowl, or something along those lines. Him being on our coaching staff is a big problem IMO though. |

Very true but in relation to this argument, Grimm only actively campaigned to add of those guys, Bobby Massie. The other 3, the OGs in particular, he never had anything to do with adding to this team. And those two guys aren't developmental rookies either, they're 5-6 year vets. Why are their failures his failures? |

I really think it's a system though with the O-Line - got a good run blocking LT going down and it throws it quite a bit off. That doesn't mean it should be as bad as tonight though. |

If you think Grimm's a problem, that's fine. It really is but if you think swapping Russ Grimm for another OL coach without dramatically upgrading the players on the OL is going to change anything, I think you're going to be sorely disappointed.
Khodder said it best. We've applied MULTIPLE 1st-2nd-3rd round picks to the defense over the past 3-4 years and now the defense looks great. Borderline elite even. We currently, right here right now, have 1 OL that we the Arizona Cardinals have drafted in the past 3-4 years and he wasn't a 1st-2nd-3rd round pick, he was a 4th round pick. 3 of the other 4 OL were cast off free agents, the last 1 was an UDFA. You get what you put into it. What we put into it has little to do with Russ Grimm and yet, he gets 100% of everyone's blame. I truly do not understand it. |

Champ I was ten rows from the cards sideline tonight and grimm wasnt even trying to coach up.our guys. He just stands around with his arms crossed alienated from everyone. At one point Whiz went up to him and was like what the hellbis this and Russ just shrugged his shoulders. He doesn't even coach. pregame when only the specialists are out and no other coaches r around theres russ shooting the s***with locals before the game.
He did nothing tonight. Nothing _________________

He's a specialist coach, I'm not entirely sure what you expect him to be doing? There's no way we can make a judgement on his performance given none of us have seen his work away from the camera's. Being everybody's mate will only get you so far, and when you've been around as long as Grimm has he's probably doing something right. _________________

I'll say this much, if he's as bad as some think, it can still have very positive results. Rams were in the same position. Swapped out the worst OL Coach in the NFL, Steve Loney, for one of the best, Paul Boudreau, and the results are noticeable.
Our OL is still bad but it's not anywhere near as horrendously embarrassing as it was last year. Once we get Saffold and Wells back, it might even be solid. _________________

Same to you. The next couple of drafts will be big for you guys to stock some talent around Bradford because that D is tough. I'm a believer in Bradford, so I feel bad that he has absolutely nothing around him -- and now Amendola is out. |

Embarassment. That's all I am going to say. Both teams look like garbage. Worse game I have seen the Cardinals play in a very long time. I am not even gonna comment on this one and it's not even worth it. At least they have a couple extra days to rest before next week. |

Only positive about this game is they get sometime off now.
Also put the not tough talk to rest, Kolb took a pounding and was bleeding. _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
