I remember reading some early draft projections back in '05 that had him as a late 1st rounder. Nfldraftscout.com rated him as a 3rd rounder in their final pre-draft projection. But then he wound up completely falling off boards.

Anyone know what it was about him that scared teams away?

I think he ran like a 4.6 or 4.7. He also didnt display fluid hips.

He ran a 4.69 40 time which I'm sure scared just about every team away. Also always had issues with penalties and had poor instincts from what I'm reading.

Yeah, lack of shorts speed and instincts dropped him.

Also, the fact that your just now asking this question in 2012....

It took him some time to develop, its not like he is a "cant miss" guy

Pretty much

He has good instincts now, but they would have come with time. We also run a scheme that fits his skillset.

Plus he has trimmed down as of late.

Wait, he was slated to go in the draft back in 05?

Dang, how old is he now? I didn't even know who he was until last year! lol

That's because he was not in the NFL until last year. 28 years old.
