"But we've got a young team. We're building. I think we're heading in the right direction. We don't officially own the team yet and we've said all along that we're not going to make any comments on personnel until after we own the team. That's in about two weeks. |

So it looks like when Haslam does take over he is just going to let things play out.

Wise decision
When has firing a head coach midsession ever benefited a team? _________________

I thought it was a given he wasn't doing anything until the end of the season at the earliest? _________________

Comments like this make me happy.
We do need to make some changes but getting rid of everyone would be a big step backwards.
This makes me think that there is a very good chance that Tom Heckert will still be GM next year.
Haslam has said more than once that this team is young and talented.
As for Shurmer..... He needs wins and he needs them soon.
I can see Holmgren wanting to move on but I can also still see him here next year as well. _________________

Blowing everything up mid-season would be stupid. Haslam is not stupid.
Doesn't mean, though, that Holmgren isn't put on a glide path out the door the minute Banner is aboard. Or that he already hasn't picked his HC.
Even if we pull enough wins out of the rest of this season, Shurmur probably is gone at the end of it. Keeping him would be like Holmgren keeping Mangini, with no commitment to him.
My bigger concern is that we don't put all these young players to learn completely new O and D systems.
I know a HC usually wants to pick his own OC and DC, but in this case I would be inclined to insist on one that keeps Childress, Jauron and most/all of their underlyings. _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |

I wish you were right, but you know how this game works. Head coaches want their own guys. _________________

I for one hope we keep Holmgren,Heckert,Shurmur and Jauron another year. I know our record is not good but we have a lot of young players.
I think if you give Jauron a good free safety and either a good corner or def. end this defense can be a top 10 and even a top 5 defense. Young line backers show promise. Hughes and Winn look good. Sheard will get better.
On offense I've seen improvment from Weeden and Schwartz since the eagles game. Not worried about Richardson at all. Jordan looks good when he plays at tight end. Receivers dropping the ball has to stop. Guards need to step up. Marecic needs to step up also.
Probably have to use free agency a little more next year. If we can add at least four decent starters next year I'm predicting playoffs. No need to rock the boat.
The realist in me also knows the Browns need to win some games for Holmgren and Shurmur to survive. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

no one should be untouchable because if they start thinking that they could become complacent with it _________________

Haslem sure seems to like using the royal "we" instead of the first person "I". _________________
