So I thought I would take a 3rd hack at this to see if I could finally get something that reaches the end.

Here is the premise of things:

This draft you will be trying to create the regular programming for your TV network. The programming will be 24/7 but the 2AM to 5AM time slots will be for paid programming for your network so you will need to fill the 5AM to 2AM time slots with programming. You will pick TV shows, past or present to air on your network.

In theory if you have 1/2 hour shows to fill your day and have a different show every day you could pick a total of 280 shows, but due to attention span/time constraints and logically having programming that will occur on a daily basis or are longer than a half our we will only be picking 60 selections and then having a "free agency period".

There are a few limitations:

1) NO PPV/SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS (Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Wrestlemania, UFC 101 ect)

2) No Movies just TV shows. (no trying the DVD on TV or anything like that either)

3) Sports shows such as PTI, Sportscenter, Sportsnation, NFL All Access, Inside the UFC are allowed but seasonal sports broadcasts are not draftable {Monday Night Football, NBA on TNT, Sunday Night Baseball ect}.

4) The shows you select must be broadcast across the US not just local programming, via Dish, Direct TV, cable TV or over DTV.

5) Also all award shows are not eligible to be selected seeing how they are yearly and not weekly shows.

The draft will have 4 hour time slots 8am-midnight CST with a staggered snake format. 25 rounds of 1 per round, 10 rounds of 2 per round and 5 of 3 per round. If you get skipped once you are skipped continually until you makeup all skipped picks.

You may choose not use all of your selections, so when you have completed your network post that you are done selecting.

After the draft there will be a free agency period (like mentioned), that will be explained as the draft is nearing its end if needed.

There will be forum wide voting at the end which will be explained when we near the end of the draft.

I am looking for 8 people hopefully, if we get more we get more.

Post or PM all questions...

I'm open to giving this a try, though I feel like I will be learning how to play it as the picks are made. I have a question: is the objective to create a network that will garner huge ratings or one that will showcase shows you consider high quality? There is no judging system for this, right? I feel like it would be better to have no formal judging so we could just do it for kicks (and so I won't be forced to pick, for example, Big Bang Theory over Homeland just to secure the "ratings").

Is this being based strictly on prime time viewing...? So would all the shows, be, figuratively, from the 8PM-11PM time slots?

As it relates to suggestions as how to formulate your draft. I am saying go with what you view as the best shows on TV past & present, but I would also suggest taking into account what the people on FF like since they are going to be the ones voting on the best network created.

And no this isnt based on just prime time viewing- like I said in the opening you are going to be filling all the time slots of the day not just prime time hours...

did this a couple years ago. Tons of fun. Im down again, but I will say ahead of time, I am working alot, so I might miss some picks, so if I dont have a big board sent in, just skip me, and Ill make up picks as soon as I get on.

I'm not sure I entirely understand, why would you need 60 shows?

You don't need 60 you just need enough to fill the weekly programming on your network... If you think you need less than pick less

I don't have time to do this, but will follow it.

I wanted to post though to say that I did one of these on another forum a few years ago and one thing that came up that completely derailed it was what to do with re-runs/syndication.

So I think you should decide now whether you will allow the picking of shows to run "new" episodes primetime and someone else to pick the same show to run re-runs generally for non prime time slots.

Because I'm sure you all see Big Bang Theory on all the time in re-runsou on more than 1 channel that is not CBS. Are you going to allow that to happen.

If you don't decide now, you can get some fighting later on Laughing
