Farrell was formerly the pitching coach for the Red Sox. This obviously leaves AA's club with a void at manager.

As I said in the other thread, this is the guy management has wanted for the past 2 years, and they finally got him. I would have been just as happy with Brad Ausmus, so hopefully we didn't give up too much.
Edit: @jonmorosi: Source: In John Farrell trade, it appears one player will go in *each* direction. So #RedSox will get a player from #BlueJays too.
@jonmorosi: Source: Player going from #RedSox to #BlueJays was a major leaguer in 2012.
Now I'm a little worried. Daniel Bard maybe?

Love the hire. Absolutely love it. Farrell hopefully will bring Lester back to what he should be and he'll have the respect of the players who have been around the team for awhile. Farrell wasn't there when the team collapsed in 2011 and he obviously wasn't here last year either. The Sox were more or less a very good team while Farrell was the team's pitching coach.
I wanted him last year, but didn't let myself consider the possibility last time around because of the Blue Jays' vicegrip on him last winter. I'm glad we were more insistent on getting a respected manager this time around.
