Averaged 7.4 yards an attempt today. That's above average. I'm content. _________________

Why does it matter if you're winning games? They've built a system where he doesn't have to throw the ball deep. Look at what Harbaugh did in SF to fit Alex Smith. _________________

Our offense looked much better today, and we did hit some deeper passes. Ponder was due for a few picks.
But at the same time, he helped us put it away, one with a pass to Harvin where Harvin made a huge play to score, and another a perfect 20 yard TD pass to Rudolph.
I'd say he's just fine. He's playing at a great level right now, and I don't care what stats say. _________________

| Who care? What he's doing is working their 4-1. Stop hating. Why are people so obsessed with every QB throwing deep bombs every other play? if it works it works. |

Whoever is saying they are "dumbing down the offense" or Ponder doesn't have the arm strength to go down field needs to actually watch a Vikings game. They call deep throws, the WR's just can't get open and Ponder is smart enough to find an OPEN WR and not just chuck it up there. Bill Musgrave (Vikings' OC) has said multiple times that they call deep plays but nobody is open. Ponder has been extremely accurate when asked to go down field, and has plenty of arm strength.
The Vikings are built around defense, running the ball, and sustaining drives with Harvin and Rudolph in the short-intermediate passing game. No reason to lob up jump balls when you can effectively move the ball in other ways. _________________

Yup until yesterday the longest pass he threw was 29 yds so yes I wanted to see could he take longer shots down the field. Only because it was mentioned he had yet to throw a INT. And I was able to find out because he wasn;t throwing that many long passes until yesterday which gave him his first INT |

It was only the Titans don't get too excited. We have possibly the worst defence in the league. Actually there's no possibly, they are the worst. _________________

I don't understand the problem.....
He's winning games and he's playing very good football. Who cares if he isn't throwing 50+ yard bombs all day? You know what you get from that? Turnovers. Lots of them.
Was someone touting Ponder as a QB that could throw the ball 100 yards at at a time? I don't get where this even came from. _________________

Thanks to Percy's YAC. |
Harvin caught a 45 yard pass against the Titans, down field. Barely any YAC. YAC helps Ponder, of course, just as it does for any good QB who knows how to get the ball to his playmakers. |

Ball only thrown 18 yards in the air, Percy did the rest. On Harvin's 10 yard TD catch, Harvin caught ball 5 yards behind the LS, Harvin did the rest. _________________

That TD was obviously all Harvin. Of course there was also another TD to Rudolph, on a great throw into the endzone.
As for the 45 yard pass, are you serious? Ponder delivers a perfect ball to Harvin, allowing him to catch it in stride and keep running. He doesn't even make anyone miss, he just catches the ball in stride and keeps going. How is that not a great play by the QB?
People will see what they want to see. Fact of the matter remains that Ponder has made a remarkable jump in his efficiency and decision making this year. But I guess Tom Brady isn't that good either, after all, he just plays pitch and catch with guys like Gronkowski, Hernandez and Welker, right? _________________

You don't understand the problem? It's because at some point as a QB he will be forced to make plays that will help his team. The vikings can hide him forever. |
