And exactly why you overreact in a week 5 of the 2nd year game. |
How many games do you need for it NOT to be an overreaction? Week 1 or 2 is an overreaction. By week 5 you've pretty much figured out if your team is good or bad. Do you think me saying "The Jacksonville Jaguars suck" is an overreaction? No? Why not? It's only week 5! They could get better! _________________

You find out if a team is good or bad by week 5? Are you serious?
Eli Manning would have zero super bowls if that was the case, Aaron Rodgers wouldn't have one the year he won, and the Buffalo Bills would have been elite last year |

Do you not see the hypocrisy he was showing in saying people overreacted after year 1, but acting like it was perfectly reasonable to draw firm conclusions based off of 5 games in year 2? |

Steve Smith as well
It's his 21st game, he's no rookie, he's 1/3 into his second season, so let's stop making the excuses.
I almost feel bad for some of these young quarterbacks. The early fortunes of Joe Flacco and especially Matt Ryan have made people believe that you can be successful right away as a QB. You really need some time to hone your skills and improve. The operative word is improve. But after this third of the season so far, after this last showcase, can you honestly say Cam has improved? The verdict is still out, there is plenty of time for Cam to work and study and study and study. He's already admitted he has played poorly. So let's see how he responds. He hasn't yet. But the verdict is still out. _________________ Reggie Wayne for HOF

I think Cam is still fine but for whatever reason their OL and running game doesn't seem to be doing well, at all. The defense is doing no favors, either. _________________

I'm just bitter because I have him on 3 fantasy teams. |
What? Newton doesn't rely on his legs. If anything, he hangs in the pocket way too long instead of rolling out and trying to run. Most of his rush attempts are designed.
I ask you. Is Newton's horrible game any different than Eli's horrible games in his second year? It's a young quarterback still trying to get used to the game and I think it is safe to say Eli wasn't relying on his legs. |
Here is the difference - Eli had to learn to pass, or else he would be out of the league. Athletic QBs don't learn to pass because they think they can get by with their legs. It's like the pretty girl that doesn't need college because she thinks she can get by with her looks. |
But that doesnt describe Cam at all. If you cant tell he is deliberately hanging in the pocket (at times too much) in order to be more dangerous in the pocket and to develop that part of his game, you arent watching. _________________

2011 Buffalo Bills- 4-1 through 5 games
2011 Tampa Bay Bucs- 4-2 through 6 games
Why didn't those two teams meet in the Super Bowl? |

The difference being you would be talking about the Jags in the forseeable future. Writing off Cam's career 2 bad games into a 5 game season is a bit premature. Yes? No? _________________

Or how about their playcalling?
Despite all the Cam Newton hate, if they use Cam Newton on 4th down last week and on 4th and goal this week those could easily be 2 wins instead of 2 losses |

I think he'll be fine. He's definitely slumping, but the playcalling and dumb mistakes (fumbles and drops) aren't helping.
I can't understand why all those who predicted him to bust are claiming to have been right 5 games after one of the best rookie seasons ever.

| Cam was even struggling in the pro bowl last year. How embarrassing is that? |

As usual it is the fans that rallied so hard against drafting him, but were nowhere to be seen during last season, coming out the woodworks to throw him under the bus, just so they can say they were right. |

Its too early to tell. You don't normally get the full story of a QB after 2 to 3 seasons.
But right now? He's not doing too hot. _________________
