Scott Petrak ct @ScottPetrak
QB Brandon Weeden has thrown for 1,288 yards, the 2nd-highest total ever by a rookie through 5 games. Cam Newton had 1,610 last year
has weeden made some bad plays yes, but that was expected, the guy is still playing very well thouugh _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient

I think he is playing about how a rookie q.b. plays. Has his ups and downs. I look for more ups than downs the rest of the way. Actually I'm more worried about the defense now. Sometimes Weeden tries to throw at a receiver when nothing is there. He needs to stop that. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

For a rookie he isn't do that bad, I don't like how much we have been throwing the ball but if it takes that to get this team going then im fine with it, but I would like to see more of t-rich _________________

see i dont mind it so much of the amount of passes he is taking...
1. the more passes he throws the more experience he can gain from reading defenses, seeing routes ran, and working on making his throws
2. it can help us see what we have in our young WRs. Good: Gordan and Benji, MoMass Bad: Little, Watson
3. it takes a load off of Richardson. Yes, I love watching TRich run the ball but I would hate to see him gain useless tread on his tires during bad seasons. Give him the ball and let him run but lets not run him into the ground. lets wait to fully unleash him when we are a good team
4. Covers up our crappy guards. IMO our guards are bad at run blocking even tho they were good today. Hopefully they are developing into better run blockers. I believe they are better pass blockers than run blockers _________________

I know there will be growing pains with everyone being so in experienced.
It's just so frustrating seeing games were playing good in just tossed away. _________________

So you expected a "terrible pick" to be the 2nd most productive QB in history through 5 games?
Interesting... |

I'm warming up to the idea of a long term QB with red hair and a knack for hiding behind Old Glory.
Seriously, the dude has shown flashes and anyone who denies that is a major [inappropriate/removed].
The only thing that pisses me off about Weeden is his tendency to check down before a big play develops. That play with Flash Gordon is a perfect example of waiting in the pocket. I wouldn't call him scared, because his gunslinger characteristics are pretty apparent, but he sometimes uses the short game as a crutch. _________________

He makes some really bad decisions at critical times. Rendering the other 85% of his play, where he is really effective, worthless.
The yards are nice. He'll probably throw for 4,00. But he'll probably throw 25 picks.
Imagine his numbers if he had dependable receivers. _________________ There's always money in the banana stand |

I've been his biggest critic yet he has surprised me. I think the fact he finally connected on a long strike today confirmed his improvement for me. Just need to get the old man a stinking consistent target.
Norwood should play in every game this year and Gordon should start from here on out.
Weeden has surprised me nuff said. _________________

I think Weeden is the real deal. He has shown poise and the ability to make all the throws. Hasn't made the same mistake over and over again. The throws that were off today was him trying to make something happen and working with a new receiver.
I'm happy with Weeds, TRich, Gordon, Schwartz and our other rookies. I'm disappointed with Sheldon, Dimitri, Young and the Eagles leftovers on this roster. |

I'd be interested to see what he can do if he gets a couple targets who can catch the ball and another lineman or two. I think he definitely needs to improve, but he's shown some potential. He has thrown nine interceptions, so he is on pace for close to thirty picks. He's improving, I just hope he's not going to be one of those guys who plays well but always struggles with decision making at times. _________________
