Ok, I keep hearing people saying on here that Heckert and Holmgren are stupikd for not bringing in FA. Frankley I am still waiting for one of you to tell me what great FA that we had a legit shot at that we wouldnt have to vastly over pay to come here.....?
p.s. hows those great FA signings working out for Buffalo? _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient

my complaint is moreso the lack of decent FA signings.... ever. not just last season. its possible that the Browns have such a bad reputation among former players that nobody is willing to sign here. but since you asked these are some guys i would have loved to see us sign or atleast make offers to:
WRs - VJAx, B Lloyd, J Simpson, Garcon, D Hixon, J Morgan
DBs - C Rodgers, C Finnegan, B Carr, etc _________________

Yeah a lot of people wanted Mario Williams. Actually word is Heckert was interested in Garcon and Morgan but Washington vastly outbid him. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

By the way I'm mostly of the opinion we should not sign a big name free agent until that player could put us in the playoffs. Even than the G.M. should decide how much he is worth and not go over that by much. _________________ browns and indian fan 7272

we did make a play at Garcon and Morgan and Washington outbid us, for more than they are both worth imo.
the others I could not see us being a serious option for them _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient

V-Jax went to 1-3 Tampa Bay
Garcon and Simpson have done nothing and have been injured
Hixson was resigned, he had no chance of coming here.
Morgan was overpaid and cost the Redskins a win.
Rodgers wasn't going from a championship contender to the Browns.
Finnegan is a jerk and hardly a great player to build a young team around.
Brandon Carr was given a ridiculous contract to be a #2.
Unless you are a good team on the cusp, spending big bucks on a free agent rarely works out. Heck, even the great OL we wanted (Eric Winston and Carl Nicks) are playing on bad teams.
Bringing in overpriced free agents to be on a bad team for a few years before they are overpaid and under performing will not help us long term or really short term. _________________

All things being equal Browns landed several quality FA over the years
Jamir Miller
Kevin Shaffer
Eric Steinbach
Orpheous Roye
LeCharles Bentley
Hank Fraley
the DB from Baltimore that tor both his knees,
Earl Holmes
Corey Williams
Shaun Rodgers
Gocong
Sheldon Brown
Rickey Dudley
Jeff Garcia 5y $50mill?
Antonio Bryant 1k yards Dallas cut him
Reuben Droughns
Trent Dilfer
Brian Russel
Kenard Lang
Derick Anderson
Joe Jurevicius
Terrelle Smith
Jamal Lewis
Robaire Smith
Ted Washington
Donta Stalworth
Willie McGinest
I think it is more of the fact we been spoiled by super active FA acquisitions
There are only 8 guys I like at all between now & 2014
Ben Tate 14
Dwayne Bowe 13
Darrel Reavis 13
Jared Allen 14
Brian Orakpo 14
Justin Smith 14
Wes Welker 13
Gregg Jennings 13 |

Yeah. We couldn't afford to overpay anyone with the absurd amount of cap room we are not using. _________________

thank you BocaRatonBrown1
I have never said, and I know most here, do not advocate vastly overpaying FAs or deals such Haynesworth, Williams, etc., but not every FA signing has to be about that.
But that doesnt mean sit on your hands and do nothing either. |

that doesnt mean you give someone more money than they are worth. and the past few years that has been the case with most FA with the exception of a few I.E. jonathan Joseph, whom it came to s and the texans to get _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient
