Why is this a thread and why do people continue to write in it? |

As usual you read what you want to read…I didn’t say he couldn’t tackle…I said he isn’t physical enough when tackling…Lovie has always valued physical CBs…look at Tillman and especially Jennings who doesn’t have size but is very physical…Amerson doesn’t play with that mentality. | He is tough and physical enough. He may not be Tillman but you don't have to be. |
32 college games…2 TFL…1 FF…he doesn’t have to be Tillman but he has to be more physical than that if he is going to fit into our defensive identity…no one is doubting his coverage ability but we all know we ask our CBs to play a certain way and IMO Amerson hasn’t shown much of that in college…maybe he can learn to be more physical at the next level…maybe not. | at his TFL and FF #'s. Are you implying with those low numbers that he doesn't create enough plays? Scheme has more to do with TFL. Plenty of people are questioning his coverage ability. He's plenty physical for a CB. |
He doesn’t create plays against the run…and yeah scheme can have an impact…but so cannot play the run real well…also people are questioning his long speed because he was burned deep twice against Tennessee…but his coverage instincts shouldn’t be in question…as I said IMO he isn’t overly physical and not on the same level as our current CBs when it comes to physicality. _________________ Adopt-a-Bear...Adrian Amos |

I feel he's physical enough to play CB for us. As far as his long speed that has always been his biggest issue and why I've never felt he was a top 10 pick. He isn't a great athlete. He's a guy I would consider with our first round pick if he plays like he did last season. He's not looking to hot this year though. Look good against FSU though. |

I don't think you can just play DBs at MLB and expect them to perform like Urlacher.
Urlacher is unique in that he's a large, super-athletic football player who worked as a linebacker his first two years at New Mexico, and then remained at linebacker while working extensively on his coverage skills for the rest of his college career. He's unquestionably multi-dimensional. _________________

I seem to remember Urlacher being a Safety in college, so I was thinking along the lines of another tall player from the secondary who might do very well as a MLB in the Bears scheme. It was an inquiry into whether you guys thought that we would give up dominance in the run game for a great pass defence with a player who has, as has been shown by his picks last year, very good ball skills, a great zone defence player and has the size but maybe not the strength to play MLB. |

Aren't there any Butkus or Bednarik top listers in the Big Ten? NU or ND would be very nice. A bit of an attitude would be ideal. _________________ "I have to keep playing so people over 40 will have somebody to root for on Sunday afternoons." George Blanda who played until he was 46 |

For what it's worth (and it's not worth much), early mocks have Manti Te'o going to the Bears. Notre Dame's players have been so awful once they hit the pros as of late, though... _________________

I'm not a massive fan of Te'o myself but I don't think he is your average ND player of the last few years. _________________ Adopt-a-Bear...Adrian Amos |

Te'o plays with the emotion we will desperately need on this team. Urlacher doesnt even look like he cares anymore. _________________

I mean, he just jogs everywhere now. Costs us 3 yards more on average. _________________

That’s not because he doesn’t care…that’s because his knee is shot. _________________ Adopt-a-Bear...Adrian Amos |
