|
|
|
1. Cleveland Browns
William Gholston DE Michigan State
Crazy I know but Gholston is an unbelievable physical specimen, look for him to make a Mario Williams type rise throughout pre draft workouts and the NFL combine.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars
Matt Barkley QB Southern Cal
Blaine Gabbert is a disaster, look for the Jaguars to cut their losses here with Barkley on the board.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jonathan Hankins DT Ohio State
The Bucs are building a solid defense and Hankins would give them a physical presence on the inside.
4. Buffalo Bills
Geno Smith QB West Virginia
Although the Bills invested big in Fitzpatrick, Smith is simply too good to pass up.
5. Indianapolis Colts
Jarvis Jones OLB Georgia
Dwight Freeny is on his way out, whom better to replace him in Pagano’s scheme.
6. Oakland Raiders
Barkevious Mingo DE/OLB Louisiana State
Mingo’s athletic ability is off the charts and quality pass rushers are quickly becoming the most sought after position in the NFL outside quarterback.
7. Carolina Panthers
Star Lotulelei DT Utah
The Panthers need a defensive presence inside and Lotulelei would give them that and more.
8. Kansas City Chiefs
Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas
No one thought Ryan Tannehill would be a top 10 pick or Christen Ponder would go in the top 15. The Chiefs will feel pressure to make this pick.
9. Tennessee Titans
Chance Warmack OG Alabama
While this may seem high for a guard, the Titans need to get Chris Johnson back to his running ways and Warmack will be a perennial Pro-Bowler.
10. St. Louis Rams (via Washington)
Eric Reid FS Louisiana State
St. Louis is building a very good defense and Eric Reid would give them a playmaker at centerfield.
11. Miami Dolphins
Justin Hunter WR Tennessee
Ryan Tannehill has been very impressive; Hunter would give him a big physical receiver with deep speed.
12. New Orleans Saints
Bjeorn Werner DE Florida State
Saints will be looking to address their anemic pass rush; the German from Tallahassee would fit the bill perfectly.
13. New York Jets
Robert Woods WR Southern Cal
The Jets desperately lack offensive playmakers, Woods would give them one.
14. St. Louis Rams
Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M
The Rams need to protect Sam Bradford at all cost; Joeckel would be a fixture on their offensive line.
15. Detroit Lions
Dee Milliner CB Alabama
Detroit has needed an upgrade at the corner position for some time, Milliner gives them a stud.
16. Dallas Cowboys
Sam Montgomery DE/OLB Louisiana State
Montgomery slips due to injury concerns but Dallas jumps at the chance to pair this tenacious pass rusher opposite Ware.
17. Minnesota Vikings
Manti Te’o MLB Notre Dame
The Vikings have been quite the surprise so far this season. Adding Te’o to the middle of their defense here is a steal.
18. Seattle Seahawks
Keenan Allen WR Cal
Adding playmakers around young quarterback Russell Wilson will be the Seahawks #1 priority this offseason.
19. Arizona Cardinals
Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M
Even though Matthews played on the right side at A&M, Bruce Matthews’s son possesses the feet and athletic ability to develop into a franchise left tackle in the NFL.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers
Jonathan Banks CB Mississippi State
Banks would provide the Steelers with quality depth at corner and a potential starter in the future.
21. Cincinnati Bengals
Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina
Green-Ellis was a solid FA addition this past offseason but Lattimore is a special talent capable of carrying a franchise.
22. Philadelphia Eagles
Barrett Jones OL Alabama
Andy Reid loves drafting lineman in the 1st round and Jones could play either center, guard or tackle at a high level in the NFL,
23. San Diego Chargers
Jonathan Jenkins NT Georgia
Franklin has been a decent stopgap at NT for the Chargers but Jenkins is a massive 34 zero tech with tons of upside.
24. New York Giants
David Amerson DB North Carolina State
Amerson has tremendous potential but has been inconsistent this season for the Wolf Pack. Perry Fewell has a knack for developing talented defensive backs.
25. Denver Broncos
Terrance Williams WR Baylor
Look for the Broncos to surround Peyton Manning with as many weapons as possible.
26. Chicago Bears
Taylor Lewan OT Michigan
It has been borderline embarrassing watching Chicago’s offensive line this season. Lewan would give Mike Tice some talent to work with.
27. Green Bay Packers
Le’Veon Bell RB Michigan State
Bell has great athletic ability and vision for such a big back. He’s also very good in the receiving game and a rock in blitz pick up.
28. Baltimore Ravens
D.J. Fluker OL Alabama
Ozzie Newsome always seems to find a steal at the end of round 1 and fluker can be just that, even if a move to guard is in his future.
29. Atlanta Falcons
Michael Buchanan DE Illinois
Who knows how much longer John Abraham has left, Buchanan has loads of potential and could replace Abraham down the line.
30. Houston Texans
Carrington Byndom CB Texas
Adding quality corner depth is a must for the Texans to get over the hump, Byndom gives them that.
31. San Francisco 49ers
Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State
Rhodes would give the 49ers a big physical athletic corner to add to an already stout defense.
32. New England Patriots
Jackson Jeffcoat DE Texas
Jeffcoat possesses big time potential at the next level as a pass rusher and would provide give Pats another quality young pass rusher opposite Chandler Jones.
Top 15 most notable players who fell out of round one…
QB EJ Manual, Florida State
QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee
QB Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech
TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame
OT Brennan Williams, North Carolina
DE Alex Okfor, Texas
DE Corey Lemonier, Auburn
DE Demontre Moore, Texas A&M
DT Bennie Logan, LSU
DT Kawann Short, Purdue
DT Sylvester Williams, North Carolina
LB CJ Mosley, Alabama
LB Sean Porter, Texas A&M
FS TJ McDonald, USC
FS Kenny Vaccaro, Texas _________________

I absolutely love Manti Te'o, and would be elated to see him in purple. However, the Vikings have a major hole at wide receiver, and Jasper Brinkley has been playing at a competent level for the Vikings at middle linebacker.
Keenan Allen must be the pick for Minnesota here. _________________

I think Williams is a good player. However, Denver has far bigger needs than WR. OL, DL, MLB CB, S, RB all weigh much higher on the needs scale than WR.
Based on who you have on the board I would go with
1. Taylor Lewan
2. CJ Mosley
3. Chase Thomas _________________

I really wanted to give the Vikings Allen there but Te'o talent outweighted the Vikings WR need in my opinion. _________________

Geno is actually higher on my board but I'm expecting Mulaurky to remain in Jacksonville and Barkley seems like the better fit in his offense. _________________

Barrett Jones is the one OL I'd be happy drafting in the first, due to his versatility. Injuries are the biggest cause of our OL issues, and Jones is the best way to improve our backup situation with a single pick (and compete for a starting gig in the future).
Aside from all that, he fits our OL blocking scheme well. |

Great Colts pick.
I realize you we're trying to be different, but Gholston will not go #1. He is far from the best pass rusher. He is tall. That shouldn't be enough to go #1. He isn't even a top 10 pass rusher. _________________

Another point worth mentioning is the Vikings run alot of nickle right now, so technically those LB positions get slightly devalued a bit in our schemes.
I would agree with selecting K Allen WR, with allternatives as Jonathan Banks CB. _________________

Different was the idea... #1 overall is a major reach but at 6'7" & 275lbs with the type of athletic ability he possesses I do see him elavating himself into the top 15 picks. When it comes to defensive lineman, alot of GM's and scouts give a very high value to potential and Gholston is full of it.
Gholston also benfits from his size and most 43 base front teams will value him and his potential more than a guy thought to be a tweener. _________________
