Anthopolous stated the payroll will increase... Injuries ravaged us and with Drabek not returning until mid-season earliest and Hutchison iffy I'm sure we will be in market for a starter, we have no impact prospects jumping into rotation for 2013
Peavy could be a name to watch if price is right.. Doubt we land Greinke, but would look good with Greinke, Morrow, Romero, Alvarez, Vilanueva?? Hutch?? |

The Mets have offered David Wright an extension that would keep him in New York through 2020.
The deal, which would begin in 2014, would offer him approximately $100 million over six years plus an option for 2020. He is set to make $16 million in 2013. Wright would be 37 by the end of the 2020 season. The Mets have stated that they want to make him a Met "for life." They will likely name him the fourth captain in team history if/when he signs a long-term extension.
The team has also been in contract negotiations with 2012 Cy Young Hopeful R.A. Dickey.

Baseball offseason > all other sports' offseasons, imo
Its gonna be fascinating to see what kind of deal Josh Hamilton gets. _________________

Yeah. The NFL Draft is great, but the rest of the NFL offseason doesn't compare to the Hot Stove. |

Get ready to put the Felix trade rumors to rest, they should be done after this offseason. _________________

Melky Cabrera is also a semi-big name. I don't think he'll be with the Giants considering he wasn't the biggest locker room hit and wasn't added to the post-season roster despite being eligible now. Lot of signs point to his release. _________________

Cody Ross is a name flying under the radar, would be a good cheap option. _________________

Brewers will target a veteran SP. Jake Peavy for 2 years/$30 M sounds good. _________________

Swisher is the type of player who you either love or hate. If you're a Yankee fan, you love his attitude and energy. If you're not a Yankee fan, you hate his attitude and cockiness. |
