|
|
|
Who is the best pure pass rusher this year? I'm not talking about an "all-around" or "balanced" defensive linemen or linebacker, I'm talking about a player that will make pro bowls and all-pro teams strictly on his ability to sack the quarterback (like Aldon Smith or Bruce Irvin).
In other words, who will be drafted in the top 15 this year solely based on their ability to sack the QB?
Jarvis Jones or Mingo are some that come to mind for me, but what other pure pass rushers can go top 15? |

Personally, I think Texas A&M defensive end Damontre Moore could be a player that moves up draft boards. I like his versatility - he has experience playing outside linebacker and 4-3 defensive end (this year). After watching him last year, I was impressed with his range at outside linebacker and I can't help but think that he could potentially project to 4-3 OLB by some teams. I am not sure I see him as a 4-3 DE in the NFL but probably projecting the best at 3-4 OLB with the flexibility to be used in different ways along the front 7. _________________

So far its clearly Moore. There is only one guy who's looked better...he's not available this yr. _________________ I love me some 49ers, Michigan, and my Lakers.
2009- Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan - 64 Tck 26 TFL 10.5 sacks
2010- Sam Acho, DE, Texas - 59 tck, 17 TFL, 9 sacks, 5 FF, 5 FR |

Purely in terms of rushing the passer, Barkevious Mingo is the answer. He gets a bit washed out against the run and not great against the pass, but he's got that quick twitch to get to the quarterback. _________________

Moore is. He's saying the guy who's better (presumably Javedion Clowney) isn't available this year.
I'd say Mingo or one of the A&M guys (Moore/Porter) are probably the best purely as pass rushers. The best all around player at the "pass rusher" position would be Jarvis Jones, Sam Montgomery second. _________________

I like Moore a lot but he's not the best pure pass rusher.
Jarvis Jones is. _________________

Jones & Moore to me. But I have to check out Travis Long. I haven't had the chance to watch him, but he has 7.5 sacks for the year. _________________

I'm all aboard the Damontre Moore train just like a few of you are but I'm also going to throw Alex Okafor's name out there, he's really good too. For my money, Okafor is the most pro-ready pass rusher in the draft, he's ready to go right out of the box. He's athletic and fluid while also technically sound in every aspect of his game. IMO, Okafor is going to take a big jump soon. IMO he's a better prospect than Orakpo was.
Also Michael Buchanan doesn't get nearly enough talk on here. |
