Indianapollis can clinch with
1)Win or
2) Steelers loss

If the Steelers win out and the Colts lose their last 2 games both teams would have a 9-7 record.
- The first tie breaker is conference record and they would both be 6-6.
- The next tie breaker is common games. A Steelers win week 17 vs Browns and a Colts loss Week 16 vs Chiefs would leave both teams 3-2 in games against common opponents. (Jets, Titans, Chiefs, and Browns)
- The next tie breaker is Strength of Victory and the Steelers have that easily (+11) to (-49)

Joe Ferreira of CBS Sports also tweeted this yesterday

Quote:
@ColtsSharksReds @pwilson24 IND can miss playoffs with PIT, BAL, CIN + IND at 9-7. PIT wins div, BAL over IND and CIN over IND on SOV

So even more important for us to not count on others to do what we need.

The Colts need to go into Arrowhead and grab a W. It's that simple.

Wouldn't that be something.

I firmly believe it is our destiny though, to beat the Broncos, the Patriots, the Texans, and the Redskins to win the Super Bowl. Destiny, fate, whatever you want to call it. It's happening.

ok iam a redskins fan and i can tell you we are not going to no superbowl.

as for colts i do not see you guys winning a playoff game. Your schedule has been cupcake and only beaten 2 teams with a .500+ record. Honestly who ever the colts play if they make the playoffs is going to be a blowout.

If we played New Enland or Denver I'd agree with you, but I don't see us getting blown out against Baltimore or Cincinatti

I realized a huge error on my part regarding Strength of Victory (SoV). I was under the impression that strength of victory was Points For - Points Against = SoV. In fact, SoV is W-L-T record of opponents the team beat this season.

In that case, disregarding last nights game
Colts SoV = 50-76 - .397
Steelers SoV = 45-53 - .459

Still none of this matters if we beat the Chiefs today, but it could come into effect in decided the difference between the 5th and 6th seed in the playoffs
Bengals SoV = 38-74 = .339

We are the 5th seed in all scenarios.
We will face the Ravens in the first round in all scenarios except one.

-If the Ravens beat the Bengals and the Dolphins beat the Patriots will face the Patriots in the first round.

I hope we don't rest anyone.

And as for Pagano, he was cleared to return to coaching so he makes his return to the stadium as of tomorrow. And gets one reg season game to get back into the swing before the playoffs. Coach Arians addressed the team as interim coach for the last time after the game. He is now just OC.

It's an interesting dilemna to have a coach start out 1-2 and leave. Then while he is gone the team wins 9 of 12 games. But I don't think there is anything really different about the approach between the team pre-leukemia and post leukemia. I just think there was a lot more emotion in the players. Not more will to win.

He has been gone - but he really hasn't been gone. If that makes any sort of sense.

Chuck has had his finger on this team through the entire process, and even BA knows, this is Pagano's team. It will be a smooth transition back.
