Disappointing. It's one of those hits where the QB's head snaps forward and makes contact with the defenders helmet. Not much defenders can do to avoid it. _________________

His crown hit Romo right in the chin... he can hit him lower to prevent that _________________

Disagree. When they showed the super slow speed you could see Romo's head snap forward and impact the helmet as a result of the hit. _________________

How much lower do you have to be? Arms are at waist level, facemask is in his chest. Does he have to get down on all 4's before he sacks a QB? This should be text book positioning right here. I hate how nerfed the NFL has become.
Edit: not sure why the image isn't displaying. _________________

It would have been nice if Nate Livings made an attempt to block him today. And, he should have been penalized 15 yards for the hit to Romo's helmet. |
The contact was more to the chin area. With hits like that the QB's head always snaps forward. Canty wasn't head hunting. It was more of Romo's head coming forward after the hit. But with the ticky tacky QB protection rules it certainly could have been called. |
It's still a 15 yard penalty. I guarantee that canty gets fined for it. |
He won't Slam. They changed the rule --- it has to be more -- i forget the term of art they changed it to -- Aikman mentioned it during the play. |
Well, I guess I called this one. |

Well, the picture proves it right there. Not to mention Canty is 6'6" while Romo is 6'2". Canty really can't get that much lower there. _________________

Just cause you can post an image from PFT doesn't make it conclusive evidence. _________________

Slamm...I thought you were referring to when Canty slapped Romo's helmet...that's the one I was referring to when Aikman said Canty shouldn't be fined. Either way -- I am sure Canty & company will take a fine (which I'm sure the team will find a way to take care of him) if it means a shot at Romo |

Totally worth it for the look on Romo's face.
Plus, it's not my money and it's going to charity. _________________

So I don't get what defenders are supposed to do now. Doesn't going low continuously further increase the likely hood of taking out a players knees and possibly destroying his career as a result? They have specific rules in place that prevent players from going for the knees area and now defenders can't hit in the chest area either......Pretty soon shots to the crotch area are going be the only type of legal hits allowed which will be rather unfortunate for NFL players. |
