The NFL will conduct 10 Regional Combines beginning on January 24-25, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the league announced today.

There will also be an invitation only Super Regional Combine in Dallas on April 7-8.

This will give NFL Network a few dollars.

They aren't getting rid of the combine. These are for players who didn't get invited to the actual combine. They did it last yer too I believe.

You're right on the first part. Misunderstood that part of the article.

I don't think there was anything to this effect last year.

Cool. A whole lot more appealing now that I have NFLN. A few years ago, this'd've been another thing I'd've missed.

They did this last year, including the "Super Regional C0mbine"

14 of the invitees made opening day 53 man rosters:

Dominique Davis
Jonte Green
Antwon Blake
Kevin Elliot
Julian Stanford
Josh Samuda
Will Hill
Robert Malone
Christo Bilukidi
Nate Menkin
Robert Golden
Adrian Robinson
Johnny Hekker
Greg Zuerlein

Another 14 made practice squads.

Good idea. The combine's one of my favourite parts about the pre-draft.

Agreed. I believe that's what makes it a Super Regional Combine. Wink

Anyways, this is something I'll probably keep an eye on but certainly won't go out of my way to watch. I certainly like the idea though, never hurts to get as many kids in front of scouts as possible.

Not a bad idea, anything to give scouts more exposure to draft prospects. I think it will give players more opportunities to catch scouts' attention and it will give scouts an extended look at these prospects. Really, a win-win for everyone, and the extra potential revenue if they can market this wont hurt. Ultimately, its about improving the scouting process and I think this helps a lot.

I don't think anybody's really going to watch these except for the super hardcore/hipster fans and relatives.
