That's just it- he was supposed to be very personable, very bright, a great leader. Obviously he was on athletic scholarship, but he DID go to a Top 30 school, so it's pretty hard to believe what a dumb player he is. _________________

I suppose "book" intelligence doesn't always relate to football intelligence as well. _________________

You sure about that? I mean 12 touchdowns in 10 games for someone who has Calvin Johnson and is a 1st round pick in this pass driven league? Sure isn't living up to the hype this year, lets just call last year a fluke? |

I know there are some, but this class had an especially high number of busts. Only one Pro Bowler in the first 12 picks.
| Code: | 1. QB Matt Stafford - Lions
2. OT Jason Smith Rams
3. DE Tyson Jackson - Chiefs
4. LB Aaron Curry - Seahawks
5. QB Mark Sanchez - Jets
6. OT Andre Smith - Bengals
7. WR Darrius Heyward-Bey - Raiders
8. OT Eugene Monroe - Jaguars
9. DT B.J. Raji - Packers
10. WR Michael Crabtree - 49ers
11. LB Aaron Maybin - Bills
12. RB Knowshon Moreno - Broncos |
Only nine Pro Bowlers in this class, or ten if you include UDFA Arian Foster.
| Code: | 1(9). DT B.J. Raji - Packers
1(13). LB Brian Orakpo - Redskins
1(15). LB Brian Cushing - Texans
1(21). C Alex Mack - Browns
1(22). WR Percy Harvin - Vikings
1(26). LB Clay Matthews - Packers
2(42). S Jairus Byrd - Bills
2(53). RB LeSean McCoy - Eagles
3(84). WR Mike Wallace - Steelers |
And here are the QBs:
| Code: | 1(1). Matt Stafford - Lions
1(5). Mark Sanchez - Jets
1(17). Josh Freeman - Bucs
2(44). Pat White - Dolphins
4(101). Stephen McGee - Cowboys
5(151). Rhett Bomar - Giants
5(171). Nate Davis - 49ers
6(174). Tom Brandstater - Broncos
6(178). Mike Teel - Seahawks
6(196). Keith Null - Chargers
6(201). Curtis Painter - Colts |

He is very athletic, but man he is a meathead. Good luck to the team (if any) that give him a chance. _________________

Maybe not Pro Bowl caliber players, but some guys who are starting to become good players - Stafford is the franchise QB of the Lions, Andre Smith is developing into a quality LT, DHB has been quietly turning into a solid WR for the Raiders, Monroe is the best OL on the Jags front, Raji was an integral part for the Packers SB run two seasons ago, Crabtree is developing into the #1 WR the 49ers were expecting...
This class took longer than we've been accustomed to, but it's starting to take form. _________________

This has still been the most underwhelming draft class in recent years. _________________

I understand that. That was what wikipedia showed and it was a quick. I didn't feel the need to analyze every single pick of the draft. _________________

I guess I just didn't understand why it was included since 2007 busts is what was being discussed.
I now see you were using it to make a point about the class as a whole. _________________

Curry is absolutely abysmal and this is what we tried to tell Raider fans when they traded for him. He does more bad for the defense than good.
With that said, I sincerely believe Roger Goodell was a huge part as to why Curry busted. He was actually looking as good as advertised for the first third of the season, but he was fined for hitting too hard a couple of times and he turned soft. From that point on he appeared to always be thinking twice about hitting someone. Not the entire reason for his awful instincts however.
Curry was fined in 3 of his first 4 games and said this after the third fine:
| Quote: | | I think I have taken one step out of my game as far as the whistle goes. I like to play to or through the whistle, but I guess playing through the whistle gets you dings in your pockets. |

Steelers have questionable depth with LB's right now... I'd love to have Curry come on. If the Steelers can't fix him; no one can... _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

He should sign with the Jets. He could be the best OLB on the team. No joke. _________________
