Hard to imagine Babin wanting to play hard for a team who is out of it this year. _________________

| Guy had 18.5 sacks last year, that's pretty impressive. I'm sure more than a couple teams put in waiver requests for him. Could be a Kampman type move but I hope he plays well this year to help out the younger guys on that team. |

Fan fact: Jason Babin has 17.5 sacks in his 7 seasons without Jim Washburn.
Oh well, I hope he does an outstanding job in Jacksonville, not really but still. _________________

the DE from the Eagles that everyone was claiming to be like top 5 last year? the Eagles waived him? uhm, cool. when are they cutting Nnamdi? it'd be nice to see the 49ers sign him to a 2 year, $4mil contract. _________________

He's a free agent after this year. New CBA rule or something.
If someone doesn't confirm this with a link by the time I get back from lunch, I'll find one. |

Good pickup. Are the Jaguars eliminated from playoff contention, or can they still pick up a wildcard spot? _________________

Found it:
Article 29, Section 1(a) of the CBA explains that vested veterans (i.e., players with four or more years of service) who are claimed on waivers after the trading deadline "shall have the right to declare himself an Unrestricted Free Agent . . . at the end of the League Year following the League Year in which he is waived and awarded."
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/11/28/babin-can-leave-jaguars-after-2013-if-he-wants/
So it's his option if he wants to stay in Jacksonville.
He's got a lot of backloaded money in that contract, and may not see anything close to that if he hits the market. It will be an interesting story in the off-season, since this is the first time that new rule will be available to implement. |

We aren't mathematically eliminated, but we would need to win out and both Cincy and Pittsburgh to lose out with Pittsburgh beating Cincy in their match up. So there's a chance, but there's more likelihood that Henne wins MVP than us making the playoffs. _________________
