I know this is borderline fodder for the 'Prospects Thread', but there have been a number of posters and even a few articles suggesting a 2nd/3rd/later round QB could be the best and most likely course of action for the Jaguars in the 2013 draft. It seems like the discussion could benefit from a more focused and direct thread on the topic without the distraction of other prospects from all sorts of positions being thrown in there. Everyone seems to have their favourites in this scenario, and there are a good number of prospects to choose from at this point. With the Gabbert situation where it is, and Henne looking like a potential interim option thus far...a mid-later round QB does seem to make a lot of sense for this team moving forward.
I've seen mentions of Dysert, Glennon, Manuel, Nassib, among others, including some wildcard late rounders like Colin Klein for example. We're talking projection prospects with serious holes in their game and guys who would likely benefit from at least a year of sitting on the bench learning the NFL game for the most part, so there's going to be a huge margin of personal preference. But there are a ton of options out there and it seems like an interesting point of discussion.
The question is, of the likely options available, who is your personal favourite mid-late round QB, and why?
*edited title to clarify a bit. maybe. or it might be more confusing now. i'm not sure. ooops.

Ryan Aplin, Arkansas State seems like a good one who's under the radar.
This guy intrigues me:
The problem with him is he's obviously a project, and if we're looking for a guy that can compete for next year, he's no the guy.
But, best of all (And I don't think this player will be a mid rounder, but that's where he is currently projected):

Not sure he would be a mid round prospect if he comes out, but I like me some David Fales, the San Jose State QB. _________________

For the purposes of this conversation, those are the sort of guys i meant really. Guess i didn't state it entirely clearly, but 2nd/3rd or later round guys are what i'm getting at here. Heck, even a guy like Barkley could well end up in the conversation i guess at this point. |

I can see some appeal in Klein as a longshot project, but at the same time...if we want to go 'Full Tebow' so to speak...why not just go with Tebow the chosen one? I mean, i guess Klein could miraculously turn into a viable NFL passer...but i just don't really see it. And Klein doesn't even have the added benefit of the real Tebow in his 'Tarp Removal expertise'.
Is there anything in particular that makes the Klein-fans think that he is a candidate for vastly improved passing ability in the NFL? Tebow clearly isn't an NFL passer either, but to me it's a bit of a 'one in the hand is worth two in the bush' scenario with Klein. I'd like to hear otherwise though. |

He'd be the first or second QB taken if he came out, but since he isn't, will be my #2 behind Teddy next year. _________________

If we are talking a legit late round guy, I take a shot on Brad Sorensen , Southern Utah. _________________

Really? I would think "competition" would cause him to fall. I hope he declares if that's the case. _________________

Hes not, already said if the HC comes back, he is as well. And competition has nothing to do with it. _________________
