Per Jurecki's radio show yesterday, Darnell Dockett emerged from a sit down meeting with head coach Ken Whisenhunt with the intention of requesting a trade from the team.
At his age and with his contract, we'd be lucky to get much of anything. |

Don't give in.
Keep him. We have no depth at the position if he leaves. He's still productive.
Don't give in. No leverage. He got paid, now play. _________________

I say give in. He's not productive, David Carter's actually rated out higher as a 3-4 end and 3-4 end depth is about as easy to come by as anything in this league. Letting go gives me zero worries and if he's gonna be a distraction, I say it's necessary. |

I wish we drafted Carlos Dunlap when we had the chance. |

No need for a 4-3 end. |

if Horton is our new HC, then obviously this may change. But at this point, Docket is a take him or leave him type of player.
he has been a good player for us for a long time, and I have always liked the guy. But maybe it's best to move on. _________________

About 4.5-5 mill, something like that.
EDIT:
Sorry, that's an ADDITIONAl 4.5-5 mill cap hit, on top of his already 5-5.5 mill cap hit for 2013. |

I dont see it happens for this reason. Only if he restructures his contract than we will trade him? |

That or we just bite our lips and take the hit. We could do it. It'll hurt our free agency plans but we could do it. If Dockett starts causing problems, we'll have that against the money. |

Total cap hit would be about 9.8 million, which is just less than 5.5 additional. A cut/restructure of Kolb and a trade/cut of Dockett would basically wash each other out, depending on how Kolb's deal plays out officially. |

Dockett is on the books for $7.7M next season. If we trade/cut him we are on the hook for $9.75 of accelerated, prorated bonus. We take a Cat Hit now of $2.05M and save Real Cash of $16.5M which is due to Darnell over the next 3 years in salary. _________________
