Calvin Johnson runs a streak down the right hand sideline, Peterson in Man Coverage on him bats the pass away
Calvin starts on the left hand side of the field and runs across the entire field and is thrown at in coverage of Wilson. Stafford had time, went to run, Groves forces him backwards and Washington gets a good lick on him.
Calvin lined up in the slot, Adrian Wilson in man coverage, runs a quick out, incomplete
Calvin again in the slot, Gay on him, motions in towards the formation and Rhodes drops into the "vice" style coverage, incomplete thrown at Calvin in Rhodes coverage.
Calvin on the outside, both LB's blitz. Peterson in man coverage, beaten on the in cut, catch made by Johnson, good coverage.
Calvin in the slot, Peterson lined up over him. William Gay follows motion that ends with him almost directly behind Peterson as the receiver lines up behind Calvin. Cards send 5 and drop into what looks like a single high zone, William Gay does not follow his man. Adrian Wilson drops into a zone after starting in the "box" Daryl Washington drops into a zone as a LB. Patrick Peterson looks to be in a zone. Calvin makes an in cut from Peterson's zone and makes the catch in front of William Gay for 12 yards.
Calvin out wide, Peterson in man coverage with no help. Dockett gets a big shot on Stafford, pass falls incomplete after a blatant Calvin push off goes uncalled
Calvin in the slot, Cover 3 from the Cardinals. Peterson drops into a deep third, Calvin cuts in behind the underneath zone (Washington) who was not deep enough and the throw is made over him, good hit from Rashad Johnson to keep Calvin out of the endzone
Calvin out wide, Peterson playing press trail technique in coverage. Calvin runs a 6-8 yard comeback route. Johnson possibly gets away with a bit of a push off here. Catch allowed by Peterson for 9 yards
Calvin out wide, Peterson plays press trail technique. Calvin runs a stop and go route. Stafford over throws the route by a good margin, Peterson had very good coverage and make an athletic INT on the play.
Calvin in the slot, runs a slant with Peterson in man coverage, catch made for 5 yards
Calvin on the outside, Peterson in man coverage, inside breaking route, Calvin gets position, but Peterson is right with him, Campbell bats down the pass at the LOS
Calvin in the slot, cover 3 from Arizona, Rashad Johnson a little slow in breaking downhill into his zone. Calvin settles and makes the catch, Johnson then misses the first up tackle and turns 3rd down into 1st down.
Calvin in slot right, runs a drag route as part of dual drags. Peterson in good coverage until the other drag "picks" him and creates some separation. Peterson missed the tackle and gives up solid YAC.
Calvin slot right, Peterson plays outside techniqu and stalls Johnson for a bit, but he still gets the outside release he wanted. With the safety help in the middle of the field and plenty of space on the outside, it does not matter that Peterson plays solid technique on this play, just a better throw and catch, especially with safety help inside and no help outside.
Calvin outside right, Peterson in off man, Calvin runs an inside breaking curl route, ball is out on time and the catch made, Peterson makes the tackle.
Calvin outside right, Peterson is off man, Calvin runs a curl. Catch made easily.
Calvin outside right, Cardinals run a cover 4, Johnson runs a skinny post in between Peterson and Rhodes. Incomplete.

Peterson when directly responsible for Johnson; 12 targets, 7 catches allowed for 89 yards and 1 INT. Not once was he really beaten due to his poor play on Johnson.

The Rashad Johnson pick was a very, very nice play from Johnson, he sits back in a zone as if he is playing deep quarters, he then breaks on the ball in a flash after baiting Stafford into the throw and makes a great pick.

Nice. I was really curious to see how PP did. Overall, how do you grade his job vs Calvin?

Great. Only two plays where he really gave up yards (24 and 30) neither was he poor in coverage (missed tackle was bad) overall did a great job on Johnson.

I think those are PHENOMENAL numbers for PP21. Allow just 6.7 a catch and only roughly half his targets to be catches against Calvin Freakin Johnson? That's beyond amazing IMO.

Also, fantastic day for Greg Toler even though he played a weak WR and got pretty lucky on the delay of game play.

How does 8 catches for 100 yards equal 6.7?

It's not yards per catch, it's yards per attempt or this case yards per target. That's how most metrics sites run and while it's a little different deal it's how most all QBs are judged.

He also got lucky when Stafford overthrew Scheffler down to the seam in a play that was reminiscent of the play that Rodgers threw to Crabtree for the long touchdown.
