WFAN's Mike Francessa has been roasting Pettine for being the leak for many of Manish Mehta's articles including this. Pettine came with Rex to the Jets in 2009, serving as Rex's right-hand man. If this happens to be true, it appears that Pettine has his eyes on Rex's job.
Gosh. This team has surpassed the level of just being a circus.

Well.... that's.... really bad. And if he had his sites on Rex's job he can kiss that goodbye. I'm sure many teams don't want a guy who will leak stuff to the press if he's unhappy.

That team is a wreck. Their DC is leaking stuff? That's messed up. I wondered who kept leaking things to the media recently, thought they needed to plug that hole. They have their chance.

Whats the chances of him getting a HC job now? Who would want to work for him knowing that he would sell you out to protect himself? How do you think the players respond knowing this?
What are the Jets plans for next year?

I feel bad for Jets fans. You have Greg McCelroy as your best QB, you have to put up with Tebow and Sanchez. Your best player is injured and your best pro bowl candidate got snubbed. Rex Ryan is your head coach and now your DC is caught leaking stuff to the media...again.

Seems likely that Pettine will get blackballed from the league after something like this has come to light. He's toxic.

How much of the D is him and how much is Rex? If Rex is doing most of the leg work i could see this being a career ender for Pettine.

Am I missing something or did he leak stuff last year and he is STILL the DC? Why wasn't his butt thrown into the Hudson as soon as they found out?

Who knows. Rex's first year here he was calling the defense, but he has given Pettine more playcalling duties since.

Well Pettine does the playcalling now but Rex did it for his first season (the one where Revis broke out big time and we were the league's best D). Pettine is done in the league now, no chance he gets a HC job coming from this circus team where his input into the defence is questionable anyway. And no one will hire him as a DC, no chance Rex takes him anywhere if he goes anyway.
