I played for Brian Kelly (at D2 GVSU) From the little that I knew him, I highly doubt he is going pro after 1 national championship game. Maybe in 3-5 years, but I would still consider that unlikely.

They are talking about Chip Kelly, not Brian Kelly.

There's a Bill O'Brien sweepstakes? I honestly don't understand how one season as a coordinator for New England (of all places, that history hasn't been good) and one year as a HC in a really down Big 10 makes you such a hot commodity.

ESPN have reported that the Eagles and the Browns are interested. Then the Jags wanted to interview him last year (he didn't want to work with Gabbart). Then there is the 'New England' connection for Emery and the Bears.

I know, but my real question is why.

It was definitely time. They pretty much collapsed this year. Too much talent to not go further.

I have no idea.

86 wins in 9 seasons. Basically avg 10 wins a season. Team always in contention for the playoffs.

It's 84 wins including playoffs, and there was no way they were making the playoffs in 2004 with that offense, but your point still stands.

IDK. I always liked him but this team should have been in the playoffs a lot more and contended for a Super Bowl this year. Can't say it's a bad move.

Why should they have been better? They had a poor passing attack (I'm personally putting a lot of that on Cutler - if you choose not to that's fine, but either way results are results) and a defense that relies almost entirely on 30-somethings. It's a miracle that they were in the playoff picture every year.

How many times in Lovie Smith's career do you think his team had the superior talent on the field? Answer: not many.

That could be a rough job for anyone coming in. Their best players are over 30, that O-line is still a joke and there are more questions than answers with Cutler at the helm.

Every time I have seen a Packers Bears game I have never thought that the Bears were under coached or under prepared.
